“OUR NOMINEE.”
A Nr.w .Sum: to anew Tune.
Three jovial Loco# sat one day,
By an ale-house door in the month of May;
Said one, as he seized his cuj>, saitf he—
“ Let us drinlj a health to our nominee,
< hir nominee, ha! ha ! ha! our nominee,
We’ll drink a heajth to our nominee
For they loved a joky. these Locos three,
And laughed, im'f ha ! they laughed, ha! ha!
They laiigbed, as they quaffed to their nominee.
J
“110, landlord,! hither with thy wine again,
We go in for measures, though we heed not men;
So we’ll drink to him light merrily,
And shout success to our nominee.
Our nominee, &c.
“ If Kinderhook should pass the gate,
Arid be our nerd fall candidate—
Oh, how ‘he coons to their holes will flee,
When the fox comes out as our nominee.
Our nominee, Sic.
“ Or old Tecutuseh, should he run,
Why the battle’s fought ere half begun ;
For where is the man his match would he
With Colonel Dick lor our nominee 1
Our nominee, &c.
“ Clay can’t succeed—we’re sure lie never can—
With his Tariff, Distribution, and his ‘No Texas
\ plan;
\t we’ll gull the people all, for we go for none
. \ of these,- r\-y,
‘And we go for nothing else—but our nominees.”
Our nominees,&c.
Then up rode a horseman in full speed,
And the white foarn rolled from his panting steed :
‘ I’ll stake mv bay for a pint,’ said he,
‘ You cannot guess our nominee.’
Our nominee, &c..
Then up spoke the three: ‘ Agreed,’ said they :
‘ W’e’ll guess in a trice and win the bay.
Calhoun?—Cass?—Johnson?—Van? Not he!
Then who the deuce is our nominee ?
Our nominee, ha! ha! our nominee,
Who, who the deuce can the creature be?’
They didn’t iike the joke, these Locos three,
And they couid not laugh for their nominee.
‘ The wager’s won !’ the horseman spoke;
* For the man we’il run is James K. Folk !’
, * And who is lie ?’ said the jovial three ;
,’,hy, James K. Folk, of Tennessee.
/ .bjnes K Polk, ha! ha! ha! of Tennessee 1—
1 ‘lltS < Ttiy ‘"’ an we thought ’twould be!
’Twas a right good joke lor these Locos three,
And they laughed as they quaffed for their
/nominee.
prfu we’ll drink to James—what is his name 1
(Os Tennessee—’tis all the same; i
For a right strong team, we trow, he’ll be
This Mister James, our nominee.
Our nominee, ha! ha! ha! our nominee, ,j
The very man we thought ’twould be !

VEGETABLE PlLLs|
“ The skilful physician shall lift up his head,
in the sight of the great men of the earth, he
shall be in admiration; for he hath prepared his
medicines out of the herbs of the field; mid he
that is wise will not abhor them.”
Physicians, medical men, and philosophers,
have all agreed that nature has prepared a reme
dy for every disease. A little reflection mtfcU
convince every one of tiie truth cqjitained in
this remark. Dr. Spencer’s Pjlls are a vegeta
ble remedy, and all-powerful in removing (lie
ease. They may betaken with impunity at “all
times without regard to diet or exposure, ynd
without the debilitating effects consequent on
taking other medicines. They have the united
testimony of the whole medical profession in
their favor, and from their decision there is no
appeal. Persons wishing to purchase cannot be
too particular to get Spencer’s Pills, as there.are
scores of unscientific, preparations put on sale al
most every day, of doubtful efficacy.

This is to certify, that I lime been afflicted
with Sick Headache, Dyspepsia, aud Liver Com
plaint, and Costiveness for the last eight or nine
years, during which time I had taken,as well as
I recollect, about sixty boxes of Beckwith’s
Pills, twelve boxes of Peters’ Pills, and a num
ber of boxes of Champion’s and Brandreth's
Pills, all of which afforded me but little or ijp
relief. At last, I was recoomteaded ia'try Doc
tor Spencer’s Vegetable Pills, and well I Din ;
tor I never had but one attack of the Sick Head
ache after I commenced taking tho Pills, (now
about six months,) and I candrdly confess, that I
have derived more real benefit from the use of
Spencer’s Pills, than from all the other Medi
cines and Pills that! have ever taken, and I would
earnestly recommend them to all, as being in
my opinion the best medicine in use for all lin
gering complaints. The Pills have done me so
much good, that I would not feel willing to he
without-them for five dollars a box; and I can
notbut feel very grate*-. to Dr. Spencer % ha
ving prepared such a valuable medicine, aud the
distribution of it is conferring a very great favor
on the public, as it is a thing of the utmost im
portance that every family should have a supply
of Doctor Spencer’s truly valuable Pills con
stantly on hand.
