FALLS OF COOSA*
ALABAMA
T HE desirable eite which for a long lime h.u»
occupied the attention of the many thou
sand men of enterprise v,-ho have beheld it* ad-
vantaqeons anti unrivalled location, by the recent
acquisition of the Greek territory in Alabama, is
becoming an objecl of such great notoriety, that
the proprietors have determined to offitr the saute
for aale, in lots of the ordinary size, on Mondav.
4th Feb. 1833. 3
Persons who have visited the most attractive
points, where an interchange of tire products of
the interior and of foreign commodities takes
place; are unanimous in the declaration, thut this
place possesses pre-eminent advantages ever any
other in tbe Southern country Situated et the
extreme bead of navigation on the Coosa, a river
navigable to this point by steam bents of the lar-
gent size For convenience and health, its loco,
tionis unsurpassed, presenting to tfie eye a per-
fecPnnbroken plain, having a declination Buffi-t
cientouly toconvey off'the superabundant water.
In front extending to the river is a bold Bluff,
graduating on its upper and lower extremsties,
into the finest natural landings—on each side sup
plied with never failing sitcoms of excellent wa
ter. Towards the interior terminating in guntly
undulating eminences, offering the most destrublo
situations for private residences. But all these
considerations sink into insignificance, compared
with the unrivalled advantages which it possesses
for au extensive trsde. Necessarily the only do-
pot for the supply of a widely extendod up coun
try with merchandise, it nmst of consequence
become the mart fer tbe productions of the fertile
rallies of the Coosa, tho Tallapoosa, and tho
Upper Chattohoochie, together with the salubri
ous and very productive uplands ofTulhtdegu, the
latter of winch will in all human probability bo
peopled by a more dense nopulatwn th*n any
country of like extent south of the Potomac —
Tho entire hill country of these regions, abounds
i« quarries of Marble, Limestone, und in fact all
kinds of mineral wealth. As respects the con
templated connexion of the waters of* the Ten
nessee with those of the Alabama; if by Canul
it will have its embonchment; if by Rail Road’
immediately at this spot will terminate one of its
extremities. The well known advantages ofthis
place render further remarks unnecessary other
than to aay that to the capitalists it offursa desira
ble opportunity for profitable investment—to ths
merchant «t offers advantages of aD extensivo
trade—to the mechanic, the allurement of what
most soon become a flourishing town, not of e-
phemeral existing importance, bnt ofa penna
nent nnd daily increasing importance; to the
planter, a desirable nnd pleutnnt town residence
convenient to the alluvial bottoms of the Coosa'
the Alabama, and the Tallapoosa. In addition ti
which it will nndoabtodly, at no remote period-
become the location of th* State Capitol, for
which it offers greater inducement, than any ether
point on the Eastern waters ol the State.
