massacre aud i:rueltjr "in the Creek country,
reached us by this mornings mail. Tlio Alabama
and Georgia Delegations, immediately called'on
the Secretary of War, who had just received offi
cial letters from Mnjnr McIntosh, at Fort Mitchell,
confirming ull that wes Imrriule in onr previous
intelligence and leaving no doubt of ageuerul In
dian war. The Secretary informed us, that'ho
hail already sent a requisition to'the Committee
of Ways and Means lor an ,appropriation of fivo
hundred thousand dollars, for tlio support of the
war, and the suppression of Creek Indian hostili
ties—and ti.at ns Ihe entire regular force not em
ployed in the Florida Wor, and at the disposal of
tlio'Government, l,md already been ordered to Fort
Mitchell, there could be no more assistance in the
way oftfoops. to the force,.that tho Guyernurs of
Alabama,und Georgia had been authorised to or
der to the country, until a bill authorising tlie
President to raise ton thousand voluntects should
be passed into a law. By . ihe joint exertions of
the .members from Alabama and Georgia, assis
ted by our Senators, we buve succeeded in pro
curing forthwith, the passage of this hill through
the Seriate, with certain amendments, one uf
which-I regret was not enneured in by the House
of Representatives j in consequence of which, the
passage of the bill will probably be delayed until
to-morrow.
The bill appropriating five hundred thousand
dollars, for the Creek war, was reported about
