Candidate for Governor of Alabama.
An in>pr r en<oM has «hat Richard \V.
Walker, the Whig nomine** for Governor, had
withdrawn his nccopiuttco of the i>ntn*n »t ion on
account of ill health. This idea has prevailed
in North and Contral .W’atna, as we learn hy
W|er«. &c. It is true that Mr. Walke; in reach-
ir.p Philadelphia, where he had pone I medical
ndv'i .' *ared that ht- wliold be debarred by ill-
health f r om active duties in the campaign. Tile
Committee did not deem this essential, and he
nlbced the subpci ol hi* continuance in the field
in their hands, and contingent on their judgment
t nd knowledge of the cirrumstancie. The Com
mittee decide to coutirue hint in the field, us will
be seen by the communication below from their
Chairman :
Mew* Bate* & Gardner: The de.icate lieaUli
the Hon. Richard VV. Walker made it proper
that he should so»*k relief in a brief visit to the
North. Upon reaching Philadelphia and finding
__ little improvement in his condition, he thought
it b^at to decline the nomination which he had
before decided to accept. He was prompted to
this step by the state of his health, which would
nol |" rmil him. as he feared, to take an active
part in the canvass, and ho felt that t re Whig
piny might suffer from his inactivity, lie there
fore signified to us his wish to w ithdraw his n&n.e.
Upon consultation, however, it is thought best to
present the name of Mr. Walker still to the petr-
pleot Alabama as a candidate for Governor.—
His character, his opirious and his abilities are
well known. A recent letter Item him, at Phila
delphia, leaves it with the C< mm it tee to decide
whether he shall be the candidate. The Commit*
tee decide that he ought to be the candidate of the
Whig party, and they therefore still announce that
Richard W. Walker ia presented to the people of
Alabama for Mie office of Gove**”nr of the State.
He is to bo in Alabama by the Iv>.h July.

Uncle Tom’s Cabin ! Father Pat’s Hut!
Uncle Tom well fed, well clothed, well housed,
well doctored, and, in many instances, well edu

Father Pat dying in a Hitch after being thrown
out of his l irth spot—raging in a spotted fever—
without a drop of water to cx>l his '-uruing tongue
without food, raiment, or medicine—without
sympathy or aid—save from hia pennileaa peers—
rotting, rotting, rotting awuv out of exi-teuce !
Uncle Tom decently coffined and interred!
Father Pat thrown, like a i ieco of carrion, n
to the red earth, a shriveled remnant of skin lung
ing about his bones, without a shroud, a coffin, u
sigh, ora tear—the hungry dog howling after and
tearing him from the earth at night, ai d holding a
uval over his putrid body !
Aye,Inhabitants of Cork city, your white broth-
lying upon your way ride*, the steps ol your
hall doom, in your streets, covered with vermin,
fever maniacs, wi*h parched I ps and canceron-
stocnachai how dare you interfere with Auieir.an
institutions—institutions fost-red, fed snd sup
ported by the cotton, rico and tobacco lords—self
sh and knavish hypocrites that they are—of Eng

Aye, take Mrs. Barnum Stowe to Sk'bberecn

our kindred lie bleaching—women and men hon-

economy that at the daiy tub!? which nature
preads for the human family tber • is no cover

crossed the ocean to find occupation, shelter ai.ti

Aye, take Umjle JWa liirio' • Kith r
Pal’s grave—that spot of red Manureo- n— reuiiud
the blood-hoo -anquet, the fi>tn jr corpm*,
the bawls of the faniine'8trick n n, the blasphem

have done nothing—you do nothing—to alleviate (
Father Pat starves in a hut not fit for an arreto •
cratic fiog ; give him a hm* an dwelling.
Poor Father Pat ia without foot!, give him to
rti from “the daily table which nature spreads.”
Father Pal is hmorant, unenlightened; educate
him. and you will be blessed of God.
Do this—perform these duties—contribute to
free your own white slave (called, by a mockery,
delusion ard snare, a free man)—and then you
may fete Mrs. Stowe, Lucy Stone, or Abbv Pol-

whom you propagate by purchasing that Cotton

Our fren’mrs are conterminous ; our commer

of putting forth the most unlimited and inadmissi

insolence. Moreover, owing greatly, we believe,
to the Irish immigration, the’foaling of the masses
towards this country is anything but friendly, and

in such a democtatie .State, to restrain the people
from conduct which England would he obliged to
resent and oppose. * * * *
We have not apace hero to dwell upon the subject
