PROSPECTUS
OF THE
MUSICAL WORLD.
THE Publishers of the Musical World. in pre
senting it to the public, feel confident that it wllUsup
ply a want that has boen severely felt for many
years throughout the country, v;z:—a collection of
good Vocal and Instrumental Music, at such a price
as shall bring it within the reach of every class.
The high price at which music has been sold here
tofore, has done much to retard the tasle for all that
is beautiful in the art, by driving a large portion of
the people to purchase what is called cheap music,
but winch in reality is the dearest in the end, being
wre'chedly engraved, full of errors, and consisitng ol
common jig3, marches, quick-steps or regro tunes,
all so arranged as to ruin or vulgarize whatever good
style the performer might have previously acquired.
Being ful'y impressed with the vast extent of this
great evil, Messrs. Homans & Elus have deter
mined to offer an effectual remedy, trusting that the
public will sippo't'hetn in their endeavours.
The contents of the Musical IVorld will present
every possible variely. in order to Attract every class
of musical amateurs, and will embrace careful se
lections from New Operas, as quickly as they ap
p ar; Piano Forte music— Fantasias, Variations,
IValtzes. by the best composers, Leopold De Mey
er, Thalberg, s*c., with Quadrilles, Marches, fyc.
Songs, Duetts, G/ees,from lire finest writers of Ger
many, England, Italy, France, and composite ns of
high merit from our most celebrated Composers:
Airs, Variations, Fantasias, for the violin and flute,
wi-h accompaniments carefully arranged for the pi
ano forte. Jn short, the publishers have determined
if supported by the public, to supply every depart
ment of the art with good music, at a rate scarcely
one fourth of the [resent charge.
Thus the vocalist will in twelve months possess a
large library of vocal gems—the pianist will find the
choices’ modem produc ions—the flutist and violin
ist will find a fund of pure intellectual recreation.
The publishers feel much pleasure in announcing
that they have engaged as editor of the Musical
World. Mr. Henry C. Watson, whose fine taste
and judgement, extensive connectiou for several
years with musical periodicals, and_pe<-/ecf knowl
edge of the wants of the community, point him cut as
paiticulaily adapted lo conduct with success the
present undertaking.
The first number will ho issued on the Ist of No
vember, and Semi-monthly thereafter. Each num
ber to consist of sixteen pages of music, or; super
fine paper. Extra numbers wiil be issued on ths ar
rival of any striking novelty wnich callsfor immediate
publication. One or two sides of the cover, as occa
si n may require, will be devoted to critical notices
cf the musical talent which appears from time to
time iu (he city, togetherjwith items of Foreign and
Dome tic intelligence, thus supplying the public at
one with a Musical Library and a Journal of
Musical Events.
Bock publishers arid Musical Instrument manu
facturers will find the Musical World an admira
ble medium for Advertising, as will be extensive
ly circulated bv active agents'in every city and
throughout the whole continent,’finding it* way into
the very eke’es where a knowledge of their works
or manufactures should penetrate.

HEWE’S LINAMENT
For Illicit matim !
ALL Rheumatic persons have very good reason
for rejoicing, that they can obtain an article
that will set ail rheumatic complaints at defiance.
We wonder that people will sulfcr a moment with
this distressing and excruciating pain when they can
find a certain cute in this preparation. The certifi
cates that the proprietors have would astonish the
most incredulous. —Patients, who have been laid up
for years, and who never expected again to bo about,
in health, or without crutches, have been almost mi
raculously raised fom their bed of pain, and restor
ed to their friends sound in limb, and entirely free
from pain of any kind. This is no fiction, hut fact,
and thousands who have used it can testify to its use
fulness. Bew are of counterfeits.

nothing , if the user is not delighted with it.
An article that every family must consider indis-t
pensable when they know its pow er and value, and
which has heretofore been sold too high to reach all
classes has now been reduced in price, with a view
that rich and poor, high aifd low, and in fact every
human being may enjoy it3 comforts; and all who
get it shall have the price returned to tlltm if they
are not delighted with its use. Wc assert, without
the possibility of contradiction, that all burns and
scalds, every external sore, old or fresh, and all exter
nal pains and aches, no matter where, shall be re
duced to comfort by it in five minutes—saving life,
limb, or scar. No burn can be fatal if this is applied,
unless the vita's are destroyed by the accident. It
is truly magical, to appearance, iil its effects. En

Hays’ Liniment is known now to thousands, as a
most extraordinary remedy for thesu afflictions. It
is impossible to tell in a newspaper, in such a man
ner as to obtain full credence, the effrefs and bene
fits of this aiticle, so general is the practice of adver
tisers of extolling articles of no merit. Such per
sonal references will be givin, as to bring conviction
to the minds cf the most unbelieving. VVill sufferers
only ask among their friends, if they have i ol heard
of or known its effects; and if they do not hear it more
warmly praised than any other salve, let them not-get*
it. All fancy or exaggeration is positively excluded 1
from these statements, and it is determined to say
nothing of i's merits, but whnt could he fully proved
by a ho3t of witnesses, in any court of justice. Will
