WINER'S
L _ ■ ■
CANADIAN FES.TIIFUGE,
T’HE rtmedf la which we would call the at
trnU'on of the public, is one w hich has
proved successful for a long time ; and it is uni
versally acknowledged by ail who have tried it,
to bn far superior to any other medicine ever
employed in diseases for which it is recommended;
It not only destroys worms and invigorates the
whole system, bat it dissolves aud carries off the
superabundant slime or mucus, so prevalent in
the stoniach and bowels of children, more es
pecially those in bad health. The raucus forms
the bed or nest in which worms produce their
young, and by removing it, it is impossible for
worms to remain in the body. It is harmless in
its effects on the system, and the health of the
patient is always improved by its use, even when
no worms are discovered.
It will he seeuby the following statement that
Mr. McCord hadfprevious to using‘‘Winer’s Ca
nadian Vermifogz/’ resorted to various prepara
tions recommended for worms, without any ad
vantge —this of itself, is sufficient to prove the
superiority of this preparation over all others for
similar purposes.
Brookt.yx, January 13th, 1546.
Messrs. John Wiser fe Cos. 83 Maiden Lane, N. Y.
Sirs—l am happy to have it in my power to
bear testimony of the good effects attending the
use of your Canadian Vermifuge.
My chi ld of two years of age, had been ill for
some seven or eight months, and had finally be
come so emandated, that we despaired of its re
covery. Supposing the cause of its sickness was
worms, we gave her various medieinss recom
mended in such cases, but they produced no be
neficial effects. We had given her upas past re
covery, when r.e were recommended by a friend,
who had heard of your medicine, to give it a tri
al—we did so without any expectation of its be
ing serviceable, but to our great joy and surprise,
after she had taken six doses, and six only, she
began to revive, and is now in better health than
she has beenfqrten months.
I can-now recommend your “Canadian Ver
mifuge” with the greatest contidonce, and as a
friend to the young portion of the human family,
who sutler from worms. lam glad to be able to
give you such decided confidence in the success
of your medicine, and atn willing you should re
fer to mo any persons who have doubt on this
point. Yours trulv,
GILES MACORD, 18 Tillery st.
The Canadian Vermifuge is only 25 cents per
bottle, and is much pleasanter than any iu ase.

Firs : A friend of mine hearing me complain
oi a severe cough and hoarseness, together with
distress from which I had suffered lor some time
back, caused by.a severe cold suddenly taken,
purchased a bottle of your Syrup of Iloarhound
and Elecampane, and gave it to me. When I
first commenced taking it I couid not speak a
bove my breath, nor could I sleep without sitting
np in my bed inosi of the night, inv cough some
nights would be incessant, ao as to deprive me
ot sleep; but alter taking three doses the hoarse
ness was much relieved, together with the pain
caused by coughing: I have continued the use
until I have taken about one half the bottle. I
am perfectly free from any cough now, and am
convinced that ifljhad not obtained relief the inlla
mation produced thereby would have brought on
Consumption, It is certainly the best medicine I
have ever taken for a cough, the effects are so
soon felt, that I would do aii in mv power to make
it known among inv friends.

Dr. Sway^f—Denr fir:—ln Ala re h last I
caught a very heavy cold which settled on my
lungs, attended with a hard, dry cough, pains in
the side and breast, tightness and oppression in
the chest. I neglected taking any medicine, ex
cept tiie usual simple remedies, which persous
in indigent circumstances like myself generally
resort to, when I became quite alarmed and ap
plied to mv family physician. He treated me
several months, but I received no benefit; in
fact I gradually grew worse. I had profuse
night sweats, skin dry and parched no appetite,
suffered much with thirst, occasionally spitting
blood, until my physician, as well as my friends,
pronounced me going into a deep decline.—
Some of my friends recommended one medioine,
some another,* and would show me long certifi

suited to my case exactly, but from their elfect
upon me I despaired ever recovering my health;
but gave myself up to die of that scourge of the

“ Valuable Article. —Scarpa’s Acoustic Oil is
said by those who have had occasion to use it, to
be an excellent medicine in cases of deafness
arising from colds or other causes. We know
a young lady who not long since wis almost im
•neuiatciy relieved by it, and the certificate of
Mr. Daniel Graeff'isan unanswerable testimony
of its efficacy.”
Aud again from the Editor of the Morning
Chronicle:
“Important for the Deaf. —We commend to
the particular attention of those desirous of hav
ing their hearing restored, Scarpa's Oil for
Deafness. We hear it highly spoken of by
those who have used it, and of course known its
value.”
Itere is something worth attending to, coming,
as it does, from a man so extensively known as is
I;Ir. Graeff', both-in the city and country:
“I hereby certify, that from the effects of a
severe cold last winter, I became partially deaf,
attended with very disagreeable noises, like
ringing ofbelis, fee., which gradually increased,
until I completely lost the hearing of one ear—
when I was induced to use Scarpa’s Acous
tic Oil, and am now happy to say, that with
the use of one bottle of tbe above medicine, I
can hear as well as ever, and all disagreeable
noises have entirely disappeared. Any further
information respcctiag my case, will be gladly
j given, by calling on me at 45} North Fifth street,

ALLHEALING OINTMENT.
npiffi prrerdiflg figure is given to represent
JL the Insensible Perspiration. It is the great
evacuation for the impurities bf the body.. It
will be noticed that a thick cloudy mist issues
fVom all points of the surface, which indicates
that this perspiration flows uninterruptedly when
we are in health, but ceases w heu we are cick.
Life cannot be sustained without it. It is thrown
off from the blood and other juices ot the body,
and disposes by this means, of nearly all the iih
purities within ns. The language of Scripture is,
••in the blood is the life.” If it ever becomes im
pure, it inay be traced directly to the stoppage
of the insensible perspiration. Thus w e see, all
that is necessary whctl the blood is ttignant. or
infected, is to open the pores, and it relieves
itself from all impurity instantly. Its own heat
and vitality are sufficient, without one particle
ofmedicine, except to open tho pores upon the
surface. Thus we see the folly oftaking so many
internal remedies. All practitioners, however,
direct their efforts to restore’ the Insensible
Perspiration. The Thompsonian, for instance,
steams, the HvdropntSiist shrouds us in wet blan
kets; the Ilomopathist deals put infinitissinials,
the Allopaihiit bleeds and doses us with tpefhurv
and the blustering Quack gorges us witu pills,
pills, pills.
To give some idea, of the amount of the In
sensible Perspiration, we will state that the lear
ned Dr. Lewenhock, ascertained that five-eights
of all we receive in the stomach, passed off by
this means. In oilier words, if we eat and drink
eight pounds per day, we evacuate five pounds
of it by the Insensible Perspiration.
This is none other than thfe hsed up particles
of the blood, and other juices giving place
to the new and fresh ones. To check this, there
fore, is to retain in the system five-eights of all
the virttlont matter that nature demands should
leave the body;
By a sudden transition from heat to cold, the
pores, are stopped, the perspiration ceases, and
disease begins at once to dctelope itself.—
Hence, a stoppage of this flow of the juices, or
iginates so many complaints. Nine teutlis of the
world die from disease induced by a stoppage of
the Insensible Perspiration.
Let me ask, now, every candid mind, what
coilrse rieems the most reasonable to pursue,
to unstop the pores; aftfir they arri closed?—
Would you give physic to unstop the pores? Dr
would you apply something that would do this
upon the snrtace, where the clogging actually is?
And yet I know of no physician who makes any
external application to effect it. Under these
circumstances, I present to physicians, and to
all others, McAllisters, All Healing Ointment
or the World's Salve, it has power to restore
perspiration on the feet, on the head, around
old sores, upon the chest, in short- upon any part
of the body, whether diseased slightly or severe
ly. It has power to cause all external sores,
scrofulous humors, skin diseases, poisonous
wounds; to discharge their putrid matter; and
then heals them. It is a remedy that sweeps off
the whole catalogue of cutaneous disorders; arid
restores the entire cuticle to its healthy functions.
It is a reniedy that forbids the necessity of so
many and deleterious drugs taken into the stom
ach. I have used it for the last fourteen years
for all diseases of the chest, consumption, liver,
involving the utmost danger and responsibility,
and I declare before Heaven arid man; that not
in brie single case has it ‘failed to benefit, when
the patient was within the reach of mortal means:
I hat had physicians, learned in the profes
sion, I have had ministers of the Gospel, Judges
on the bench, Aldermen and Lawyers, gentle
men of the highest erudition and multitudes of
the poor, use it in every variety bf way ; and there
has been but one voice— : one united rind Univer
sal voice—saying “McAlister, yoilr Oointinent is
good.
Headache. The Salve has cured per
sons bf the Headache of 10 years standing, and
who had it regularly every week, so that vomit
ing often took place;
Deafness and Ear Ache are helped with like
success.
Cold Feet. It is a sure sign of disease in
the system to have cold feet. The Salve will
cure every case.
In Scrofula, Erysipelas, salt Rheum, Liver
complaint Sore Eves,, Quinsy, Sore Throat,
Bronchitis, Broken or Sore Breast; Piles; all
Chest Diseases, such as Asthma** Oppression,
Pain, also Sore Lips, Chapped Hands, Tumours,
Cutaneous Eruptions, Nervous Diseases, and of
the Spine there is probably no medicine now
known so good.

PIMJPLES ON f IIE FACE MASCULINE SKIN
GROSS SURFACE.
Its first action is to expel all humor. It will
not cease drawing till the face is free from any
matter that may be lodged under the skin, and
frequently breaking out to the surface. It then
heals. When there is-nothing but grossness, or
dull repulsive surface, it begins to soften and
soften until the skin becomes as smooth and del
icate as a child's.
Woi'lUS. If parents knew how fatal most
medicines wore to children taken inwardly, they
would be slow to resort to them. Especially
,‘mercurial lozenges' 5 called “medicated lozen
ges,” “vermifuges” pills, &c. The truth is, no
one can tell, invariably when worms are present.
Now let me say to parents that this Salve will
always tell if a child has worms. It will drive
every vestage of them away. (Read the direc
tions around the box,}
Old Sores. That some sores are an outlet
tb impurities of the System is, because they can
not pass off through the natural channels of the
Insensible Perspiration. If such sores are healed
up the impurities must have some other outlet,
or it will endanger life; This salve will always
provide for such emergencies.
Rheumatism. It removes almost im
mediately the infiamaiion and Swelling, when the
pain of course ceases.
Corns. Occasional use of the Ointment
will always keep corns from grow-ing. People
need never be troubled with them if they will
use it.’
Asa family medicine,- no mm can measure its
value. So long as thestars roll along over the

Philadelphia, and all the most popular advertised
medicines of the day had failed, you are frilly en
titled to all the benefit which tlic following state
ment of facts can confer.
In the year 1813, while rit sea on the brig
Cotnmudocc ferry, of this port my leg was injur
ed by the anchor. The wound became scrofulous
—was highly inflamed and painful, particularly in
spring and summer. Eroffl the time of Ut acci
dent, I was under the treatment of the most cele
brated physicians in the Island of Cuba; and this
city, until 1824. The. summer of that year I
spent in the country te make a fair trial ofSwain’s
Panacea; but even that popular mcdicipe tailed
to produce any decided improvement. In 1830 I
applied to the most eminent surgeon in New
York city, and I was for a considerable time un
der his care without any particular benefit.
From that time until 1844, there was no change
fur the better; and during that year, while iti
Baltimore my leg was slightly injured by a rail
road car; which caused the ulcers to rage with
tenfold violence.. I applied to a physician, who,
after exhausting his skill in vain, said “ the nn
sound timber must be removed, or he could not
keep the craft much longer afloat!” Not liking
to part with an old shipmate, however trouble
some, I refused to have it taken off ; my leg;
however, became so much worse that the ulcers
extended from my foot almost to the knee, laying
bare the bone, so exceedingly sore that I could
not bear even wilted plantain leaves, or the most
simple salve to touch it.
Thus matters stood in October last, when for
vbur gratification I commenced with Dr. Cullen’s
Indian Vegetable Panacea, with little faith, I.
confess, lor I had used incredible quantities of
Sarsaparilla, and in fafet| every other medicine
which I saw advertised; or beard recommended.
Physicians had failed amt hope had fled I Imag
