different remedies that have been offered to the :
public for the cure otthe malady than I have, be- v
cause few have been more severely afflicted with
it than I have been, and as few, perhaps, have ‘
tried a greater number of remedies for it. My |
opinion is that your Pile Oii.tment is the very best (
in use ; that it will not only sooth and ameliorate,
but will positively cure if properly applied and
persevered in a fair trial. I recommend to all per- ;

CONSUMPTION CURED DAILY BY
UK. HASTING’S
COMPOUND SYRUP OF NAPTHA.
The great sensation which was created amongst
he Medical Faculty, and throughout the civilized
world, in the beginning of 1844, by the announce
mon*. of Dr Ha.-ting’s discovery of the medica
properties of Naptha, has settled down into a thor
ough confidence that his Compound Syrup of Nap
tha is a positive speedy cure for consumption, De
cline. Asthma, and all diseases which involve the
wasting away of the human system by excessive
sweatings, expectorations, and other effects of a
contingent nature It is likewise admitted to be
immeasurably superior to any other ough medicine
which has ever been introduced, as it almost in
stantaneously relieves huskiiiess of the throat, so
ens the cough, and removes the hacking an tie
phlegm. And the activity of its nature is euch
that.'the moment it is taken,;t pervades the frame
—diffuses a gentle warmth throughout, secures a
free circulation of the blood, and opens every pari
of the body. thus giving universal egress U the
impurities which nil systems engend r, and which
are the true origin of nearly all the diseases to
which the human family is liable.
It is a universal purifier, it attacks the ‘-e
of disease, by penetrating every fibre of the body
I ar and expelling all foreign ai.d noxious particles in
j its progress, and no matter of a corrupt or impure
nature can remain ill the system when under its
I influ-nee. “ And hence its cures,” as Dr Coilis re
i marked ill his address to the Dublin Royal college
of Physicians “ are not only sure hut permanent;
’ for, not sati ti and with destroying the disease, it ex

i MAG NIX'S LUC IN A CORDIAL, OR THE
ELIXIR OF LOVE.
This is the only actual remedy ever discovered
i for imputency, General Debility. Nocturnal Emis
-1 sion-, and all diseases occasioned by certain secret
] habits; and many of the r ostruins, recently rrcom*
mended for the same complaints are worthless im
itations which its unrivalled excellence, fame, and
] popularity have bri ught into the market. Ihe
medical faculty of Europe and the Ijnited States,
are unanimous in their recommendations of the
Lucina Cordial, and have not given their sanction
in a single instance that has been authenticated, >o
any other compound for ihe same purpose. The
na<ure of the m-ladies relieved by the Lucii a Cor
j dial, are generally such as to leave the publication
of certificates of cures out of the question, or the
proprietor could procure a host ol the most exclu”
sive testimony to show that the great reputation
which it enjoys was not accidentally obtained, hut
is firmly based upon its positive, anti apparently
miraculous virtues. In all directions are to be
found the happy parents of healthy ofispring, who
would not have been so, but tor Ibis extraordinary
preparation. And it is equally potent in the many
diseases for which it is recommended. Objection
has been naturally made lo the price ol the Lucina
Cordial ; because the trash that has been thrown j
! into the maiket in opposition t>> it, is sold cheaper;
but the tact is that the cordial eannot he afforded
for less, and ought to be much dearer, as many of
i the ingredients which compose it are among th;
costliest things in nature, whereas the others are
made up of cheap diugs worth but little in mone> ,
and less in merit; and it is a fact, that at least one
of she Letters up of these same mixtures, make it
a point lo add one boille of the Lucina Cordial to
a given number of gallons of his compound, so as to
givv it some little tone and virtue, and titus solace
Ids conscience.
IMPORTANT REMEDY—DR MITCH EL'S EYE
SALVE.
T'ie great advantages possessed by this article
ever every other, .ire certainly, safety, convenience
I and economy. All physicians admit that great
danger is to be apprehended front . rugging the eye
when in an inflamed and unhealthy slate. In the
use of this Salvo this objection is entirely removed,
as no harm can possibly result from its use ; it be
ing in all cases applied to the ex erttal portions of
he eye, thereby avoiding all the inconveniences,
pain and danger, which necessarily attend the in
troduction o! any pugnant article into the eve. Its
activity in subduing infl nnation is s> great, that
hut few cases require the use of more than one bot
tle to effect a perfect cure. One physician retnark
ee to us. after having witnessed its effects in sever
al instances, that it was a “perfect fire killer.” All
we ask is that its virtues t*e thoroughly tested,
and that the direction be strictly followed. Price
50 cents per box.
CERTIFICATES.
Dt sc .wav ills, Earn well l)i-t..S>. CL Jan 25, 1850.
To those that may be afflicted with sore eyes—
I do hereby certify that my vvile was afflicted with
sore eyes for some twenty years or more. Alter
trying a great many remedies which weie recom
mended, and without any relief, ii the year 1848,
I purchased a bottle ot Mitchell’s Eye Salve, which
I prevailed on her to try. The cure wa< perfect, ]
after three application's. The bottle, though small,
has been divided, and sent 20 or dO miles; and, in
every ins'ance, a temporary or a permanent cure
ha3 been effected. My wife says that she would
would not be without a bottle for fifty dollars.
I will also state that about the first of January
Iliad a hot scale of iron fly into one of my eyes,
which remained there for two days, and could not
be seen or got out. I had a little of the salve put
into my eye, and soon a particle of the scale was
found on the edge of the tye-lid. I was much re
lieved by that application. Next morning my eye
felt better, and the Salve was applied twice, when
another piece of the Fca'e w as discovered, as in the
: first insian e, which p-oved to he the last. By
next morning, my eye felt much better, and in the
course of two days, perfectly well.
This Salve (although the eye ntay be much in
flamed) produces no pain, hut causes the eye to
discharge water freely for a few minutes, after
which the eve becomes clear, brilliant, and tree of!
pain. ‘ D. DOWLING.
