Consumption is a disease always occasioned bv adisordered state of the Vi* Vine (or Life- Prim iple) of the human body—yVoften secretly lurking in tlir. system for years, before there is the least complaint of the lungs^i—and which may lie as certainly, though not so quickly, cured as a com mon cold or a simple headache. An invaluably pre cious doctrine this, as it imparts nil imjiorfaiit lesson to the apparently healthy of both sexes, teaching them that this insidious foe may be an unobserved inmate of their “clayey houses,” even while they imagine themselves secure from its attacks, teaching them that the great secretin the art of preserving health is to pluck /ait the disease while in the blade, and not wait till the full-grown ear.
