Citizens of North and South America; To Louis Uffon Goeiicke, M, U, of Germany, (Europe,) belongs the imperishable honor of adding anew and precious doctrine to the science of medi cine,—# diM-.trine, which, though vehemently opposed by many of the faculty (of which lie is a valuable member,) be proves to be us well founded in truth, us any doctrine of Holy Writ,—a doctrine, upon the verity of which are suspended the lives of millions of our race, and which he boldly challenges lus opjlo sers to refute, viz., Consumption is a disease always occasioned by a disordered state of the Vis Vine (or Life-Principle) of the, human body—f~)poften secretly lurking in the system for years, before there is the least complaint of the tungsjpF—and which may be as certainly, though not so quickly, cured as a com mon cold or a simple headuenc. An invaluably pre cious doctrine this, an it imparts an important lesson to the apparently healthy of both sexes, teaching them that this insidious foe may be an unobserved inmate of their “clayey houses,” even while they imagine themselves secure from its attacks, teaching them that the great secret in the art of preserving health is to pluck out the disease while, in the blade, and not wait till the full-grown car. Appended below are a few certificates of cures from the extremely numerous list that has lieen sent to the proprietor ; nnd from the respectability of the sources from which they emanate, the most skeptical cannot doubt of tlw wonderful effects of this medi cine.
