DIED, on the evening of the 2d. instant, after
a short but violent illness, WILLIAM R. DAW
SON, eldest son of the Hon. Win. C. Dawson,
in the 19th year of his age.
It is always painful to contemplate the rava
ges of Death ; but when his victim is the young,
the talented, the virtuous, the promising,

And such are the considerations which render
the death of our beloved brother so deeply dis
tressing'. The deceased had been fortwo years
a member of Franklin College ; and had re
cently entered upon the studies of the Junior
year. The amiability of his character, the
blaudne.-s of his manners, and the moral integ
rity of his conduct, bad net only rend; ;. ,rl hili'
tile favorite among his fellows, but had also en
deared him to all who know him : While the i
developoment of his mind in tire pursuits of lite- t
rature and science, prom’Sed the early realize- ■
ticn of a father's highest hopes. But the spoi- i

skill, could avert the fatal blow.
