TO MECHANICS.
(SEALED proposals will be received until the
Ist of November next, through the Post
Office, by the Trustees of the Jackson county
Academy, for the erecting of a new Academy
building of the following dimensions^ —The
foundation to be of well hurt brick, three feet
high above the surface of the groun’d, with eight
brick pillars suitably disposed to support the
interior of the superstructure. The building
proper is to be of wood, 50 feet long by 35 feet
wide, one story high, to contain five rooms, the
two front ones to be twenty-five feet square.
A partition is to extend the. whole length of the
building, ten feet in front of the rear, from which,
in each corn* r, a cross partition is to extend to
the rem- oflhe building, cutting off two rooms,
each ten feet square, for wood closets. The
intervening long room between the wood elos
ets, being 30 by 10 feet, is designed as an appa
ratus room. The building is to be scaled
throughout, the wood closets excepted—nnd to
be covered with good hart-pine shingles. There
are to be five doors and ten windows; the two
outside doors and the window shutters to be of
panncll work, the l itter to be double, having
two shutters to each window, each window is to
contain a sash of eighteen lights of 10 by 12
glass vvll put in. The whole exterior, the roof
excepted, to receive two substantial coats of
white paint. The building is to be without
chimneys.
The undertaker will be required to give bond
and security for the faithful completion of the
work by the first of next April.
Payments.'one half on the completion of the
work, and the balance on the Ist of October en
suing.
