Near the hour of midnight, on Saturday night, the
-quiet people living near thecornerof Wilkinson and Mc
Intosh streets, were disturbed by pistol shots and lior-
rorfied to learn that a murder had been committed.—
Two colored men. Henry Smith or Kettles and Levi
Ross met at the house of their mistress, their brains
on fin- with whiskey, and the shooting and instant
-death of Ross by the hand of Kettles, was the result.
The particulars of the difficulty will not interest our
readers ; sufiioe it to say that a colored female was at
the bottom of it. After the shooting Henry Kettles,
who we learn is a negro of bad character and wanders
about tho country having no local habitation, fled aud

M Y stock consists of DRY GOODS, CLOTHING, BOOTS, SHOES, HATS and CAPS, and every
thing usually kept in a first class Dry Goods Store.
My goods were bought late after a great decline in the Market, hence I
can sell goods much cheaper than those who bought early in the season.
I extend an invitation to everybody to give mo a call before purchasing elsewhere, and be convinced
that I am offering GREAT BARGAINS-
