Ami this Week, at the

From the Eatonton Messenger.
; Our Trip to Milledgeville, aijd tlje Pieas-
ant Time We Had.
Mr. Editor: Last Wednesday, the 15th,
the Eatonton Sfar Minstrels and Brass Bsnd
paid our s'ster city, Milledgerille, a visit, where
I they gave an entertainment for the benefit of
1 the Putnam Rifles. The military of Milledge-
vtlle of course were interested, as the Baldwin
Blues and Putnam Rifles have the honor of be-
longir.gto the same battalion
The ’troupe was very cordially greeted by
some of the citizens ; and here I take occasion
to return the thanks of the troupe to Capt B R.
Ilerty and Judge D. B. Sanford for their ex
treme kindness in making-all possible arrange
ments for our reception, and also for their untir
ing efforts in securing hall, seats, etc. As to the
merits of the performance, the Union & Record
er will no doubt speak.
After the performance, the dancing portion of
the audience were invited to the armory of the
Blues where laughing eyes, bright smiles and
fairy forms hastened the too fast fleeting hoars.
If the Eatonton boys were not already favora
bly impressed with Milledgeville and its inhabi
tante they needed nothing more after the many
courtesi-a shown them by the young men of
that city, to make them warm supporters of its
hospitality, its pretty girls and gallant young
men. There were just enough at the dance to
make it pleasant. The young ladies were
charming. Among those who have already dis
turbed the dreams of more than one Eatonton
boy, I may mention Misses L. and M, T—, L.
and I, C—, Misses R. C—, M. B—, M- G— If.
G—, S F—, and several others whose names I
1 cannot now call to memory. It was of the ball
I intended to write, when I commenced this
ccinmu ication, but I find myself uneqnal to the
pleasant ta.-k. Suffice it to say, the Eatonton
hoys will ever remember their visitto Milledge-
1 ville as one of the most pleasant periods in their
| lives. Os* or thi
