opening day last year was very large, which will

not large enough to accommodate all the chil

that the city may be able to grant the in

The feelings and conduct of Mrs. Schwflsder,

pEiAjNEn at the Pab.—The steamers Mon
gomery, San Salvador and Tonawanda, whjch
left this port on Saturday last, remained at
Tybee bar until yesterday. The wind yas
blowing so strong that the vessels could not
get out to sea; and they were,’ therefore, com
pelled to remain inside until the gale had in
some degree abated.
Arrival of the Hebman Livingston.—The
fine sidewheel steamship Herman Livingston
iinived at this port from New York,abbut one
o’clock yesterday. The Livingston brought
a very large nnmber of passengers and t an
extensive freight, of assorted -merchandise.

This is about as quick work as we.kave ever
heard of. It was rendered necessary, owing
to the accident which happened to the Wyo

vessel, which will be placed oh her immedi

A New Phot Boat.—Some months ago ,the
pilot boat Young America,’ which, by a col
lision with the steamship Tonawanda, was
sunk in the river Inst fall, and-was afterwards
raised and sold, was taken by her owners, :
Capt. Mike Usina and others, to Charleston,
to be rebuilt. It was found, however, that
she was not worth - ; sufficient to' Warrant re
building, and she was therefore sold.’ Capt.
Usina and -his fellow, pilots then .ordered a,
new boat to be" constructed by that famous'
Charleston bnjldjr, Mr. M Jones. The
