Crawfordsville, lull.
The Whites mast rale the lsad or die;
The parpose stirs in hearts of steel;
With burning cheek and flashing eye
We wait what waiting may reveal.
Bat come what may, the whites must hold
What white men’s patriot valor bought—
Our grand-sires’ ashes, not yet cold,"
Hallow the soil.for which they fought.
Shall low-born scum and quandom slaves
t»ire laws to those who own the soil?
No I' by our grand-sires’ bloody graves.
No! by our homesteads, bought with toil,
Our rights are rooted in our lands.
Our law is written in the sky, ■ -■ -(

i shall rule the land or die I'
Ther# is a stony energy
Locked in the honest white ntsa'i
There is a passion like the set
That chteps the shore* <rf 1
Though banded Cossacks dare the day.
And soulless vampyrea fill the nifdwtm i
The distant ominous thunders say.
None save themselves shall rule the whites.
Our arms are down, we kiss the rod
And only ask for honor’s dues;
Ifon arrogate the power of God
And curse hs as Ho-did the Jews;
Beware! the lion only sleeps,
Give him his share and keep him utiU. L i
Another thrust and up he leaps.
Dire passion mastering all his wilL
We have no gnawing greed for gold,
No burning thirst for wanton power.
But we wifi lord it as of old.
And make the land bloom as the flower.
Or, iftyppression goes so far.
Ah cramps us under slave born men*
Again shall roll the car of war,
The drum and cymbol clash again! 1 1 •»
Bing through the land the dirge of sksme,
The requiem of greed and lust.
Drive back the Cossacks whence they come,
And grind these vampyrea in the dust;
Then shall the cry of hanger cease.
The horrid fiend of murder fly,
And all our valleys sleep in peace I
The Whites must rule the land or die I
Hold fast, brave hearts, the day is nigh
When howling conclaves dare not meet—
When all these mongrel fiends shall fly
To some putrescence-daubed retreat I
Blow Fate's decree from sea to sea,
From sky to sky, from realm to realm— • .
Opr Ship of State eternally
' Shall have a White Man at her helm!
A Washington letter says the large and
steady increase in the public debt is shaking
thg confidence in United States securities
abroad: lieiters' are r^Uf^ ifl 1 Lhis city
daily from Hamburg hankers and merchants,
and from other - foreign pointed asking their
fiends what they shall do with their United
States bonds. With four years pore of Ead-
.ical rule the public debt will*be*so enormous
that jit will repudiate itself. ,,,

The New York Sun has .reason to believe
that the s tatement that Chase will not vote
for Grant is premature. It thinks he will not
vote for either candidates. .
An ex-Confederate Captain, wh'o once swore
with a -solemn oath never to take a Federal
prisoner alive, is now one of the Grant elec
tors in Alabama..
The Boston Post is anxious to know what
will be done with the ten thousand Chinas
men who are working on the Pacific Railroad, i
after it is finished.
It is stated that agents of the French Gov
ernment are in New York, making large pur
chases of grain, salt, meat, eto^hing, etc.
The sign boards pnt up at -road crossing cm
the Pacific railways are said to be: “Look
