All in the arms of Autumn lying. ’
Fading flowers round her sighing, •,
Summer sick and sad is dying.
Now no more shall she .be .seen,
In iho eyening’a deep serene,
_ Weaving garlands white
Fold her in her winding ahoqt.
Woven of all blossoms meet,
Fot tho shroud of maiden sweet.

Gather Autumn’s palest ftowera,
Drank with Autumn’s softest showers—
Bring th em to her leafless bowers.
There through winter’s icy‘gloom.
She shall rest as in a tomb;
Sheeted snow shall shroud her bloom—
Shroud her bloom, but not forever;
Mortals die, but seasons never.
When the chains of Winter sever,

Spring shall wake her up again,

Indian War Certain—Sheridan Nearly
Ready to move.
[From the Leavenworth Times, Oct SI.J
The news which reaches us,from the West
is of~a mbst important character. The Indian
question is to be disposed of, and it is to be
done this year. There is perfect charmbny
"between. General .Sheridan i and Secretary
Schofield. . . All summer long General Sher
idan has been embarrassed and-held back:
He had ho more right to declare war against
the'Indians than he had against,Franoe or
England. But wiser counsels now prevail.
We understand that General Sheridan trill
soon be prepared, to move a column from Port
Wallace north, irnd from Fqrts Lodge and
Lamed south. He expects, to have enough
! to.imin the poste, and has noln.
