of Civil Officers and the general public, by which It

the military authority to preserve the peace at the
polls at any election that may be held in any of the
States; and wncreas, this duty has become the more
imperative, from the existing political excitement in
the public mind, from the recent organization of civil
government, and from the fact that Congress has, by
statute, prohibited the organization of military forces
m the several States of this Department, it is there

ages of nine and fifteen years who were ad
dicted to smoking. Of thirty-eight who
smoked, thirty-seven showed distinct symp
toms of disease. Thirty-two had various dis
orders of circulation; bruit de souffle in the
neck, disordered digestion, palpitation, slow
ness of intellect, and more or less taste for
strong drinks. Eight showed a diminution
of the red corpuscules of the blood; three
had intermittent pulse; twelve quite frequent
epitaxis; ten disordered sleep; and four ulce
ration of the mucous membrane of the month.

nior, late of this county, deceased, having been re
quired by a rule absolute of this Court, at the instance
of Deborah Perkins, a daughter of said deceased, by
her next friend, Matthew B. Perkins, to prove tho will
of hia testator In solemn form: And the said Deborah,
by her said next friend, having filed a caveat to said
probate; and it appearing to the Court that Mary
Davis, also a daughter and heir-at-law of said deceased,
and a legatee under his will, is a resident of the
county of Fernando, in the State of Florida,
It is, on motion of A. M. Rodgers, counsel for said
executor, ordered that the said Mary Davis be, and
she Is hereby cited, admonished and required to be
and appear before this Court on the FIRST MONDAY
IN NOVEMBER NEXT, being a regular term thereof,
then and there to show cause, if any she has, why the
paper purporting to be the last will and testament of
the said Newton Perkins, senior, should not be proven
in solemn form, established and recorded as the last
will and testament of said deceased.
And it appearing to the Court that a publication ot
this order daffy for the spaoe of twenty days in the
Homing Newspublic gazette of the city of Savan
nah, will tend most effectually to give notice of this
proceeding to the said Mary Davis,
It is further ordered that publication thereof be
made as aforesaid, and, upon due proof of the same,
that said publication be held sufficient for the pur
poses aforesaid.

The Lost'’Bells of Limerick.—A silver
bell, weighing twenty-eight ounces, which is
generally supposed to be one of the lost chime
of St. Mary’s Cathedral of Limerick, hag been
brought up from the bottom of Abbeyr River,
near that city. It is thought probable that
the rest of the chime is somewhere near the
place where the single bell was found. They
were thrown there, it is supposed, in the days
of oppression, to save them from the hands
of the spoiler.
The vote of a man having one-sixteenth
negro blood iu his veins was refused at the
late election at Indianapolis. He has sued
the election officers, claiming $5,000 dam-
