Three negroes wo arresjed and placed in jail, a fact already made public, and to one of- the party, a fellow named Jesse, circum stances pointed as the mnrderer. Such has been proved to be the case beyond a doubt. While the murder ceased, to be talked about, while by some it was almost- forgotten, the officers of the law have been secretly andhpiietly engaged :in fastening the crime upon the guilty one; > IthBsbeen ai hard task ; but it has been accomplished, and only now can the chain'd evidence be said to be complete.. One of the three has made a confession, J which is substantiated by, other . proof.- He ' said that Jesse fired, the first-shot,, which struck the boy in the arm. He fired-again, , the shot taking-effect in. his breast. Thp boy. exclaimud,- ‘<0, jmy God! I ; am Shot!" and fell one way. his gun dropped from his hand in an' opposite direction.' Jesse then went up to the prostrate form, and finding that life aud the Central Kailroad Agent. , The cargo was fully insured, and it is pro bable that the vessel was also. rr, ~ The Matanzas was a splendid steamship of 1,261 tons; aud the largest propeller on the coast line probably. She was built in New York in 1800, by a Spanish Company, for the Matanzas trade, and was afterwards placed on the lino to Havana. The case was turned over to a Magistrate. John Brown, a bad little boy, was then brought to His Honor’s attention. Such a bad little boy was John that his mother could do nothing with him. He roamed (he streets ■ at will, and by way of amusement threw bricks at his .mother’s house.'
