Hundreds suffer on in silence, and hundreds of
others apply vainly to druggists and doctors, who
either merely tantalize them with the hope of a cure
or apply remedies which make them worse. I wonld
not wish to assert anything that would do injustice to
the'affilcteil, but I am obliged to say that although it
may be produced from excessive exhaustion of the
powers of life, by laborious employment, unwhole
some air and food, profuse menstruation, the use of
tea and coffee, and frequent ohildbirth, it is far oflener
caused by direct irritation, applied’ to the mucous
membrane of the vagina itself.
