J Cotton—The market opened'to-day •with much firmness, and the inquiry which was good at the open ing continued so throughout the entire day. Factors seemed to be very firm in their asking prices; buyers generally offering much below factor's ideas of tie market. Friday being a holiday (we think) did inter fere somewhat with cotton transactions. The general tone of the market was very little, if any, effected by the advices from the North; the market dosing stron- . ger and firmer than we have seen for several days past We quote middling at 24c, The following were the sales of the day: 412 bales at 24, 98 at 23%/, 42 at 23%, 113 at 23%, 23 at 23%, 149 at 23, 87 at 22%, 30 at 22%, 10 at 22%, 13 at 22%, 31at 22%, 24 at 22,34 at 21%, 1 at 21%, 6 at 21%, 3 at 21, 2 at 20%, 1 at 20. Clear ribbed sides have advanced, and will rule high till the new crop comes in. We quote shoulders at 14%@15c, rib sides at 17@17%c, and clear ribbed at 19c. There are few clear aides offering, and prices are: nomi nal at 18%@18%c. . Hams are in large stock, at 10@18c according to quality. Breakfast bacon is quiet, with a downward tendency, at 19@20c. Dry salted meats are in better demand. We quote shoul ders at 13® 13%c; short clear sides, 17@17%c; short ribbed, 16@16%c; bellies, 15%@16%c, and Stratford out at 18c. Fjloub.—No change since our' last report. Stock on the market large; demand light. Feeling in Northern brands since our last report is somewhat better. We quote Northern superfine, $6 50@8; extra, $8 50@10 50, and family and fancy, $12@13 00. Good Georgia and Tennessee brands no demand, $11@12 for extra, and $12 50@13 50 for family and fitney.
