part of "Doggraas."
Binging, dancing and music ware liberally inter-

The appropriate and tasteful costumes, with a liberal
supernumerary troop*, (too often omitted on our
stage), and a careful arrangement of appropriate
soenery, (another matter too often neglected), added
greatly to the general effect, and waa alike crodltsUe
to the liberality and good testa of the management.
The Double Trapeze performances of the Leon
Brothers were lmautlfnl and thrllllngly astonishing.
The cn tertainments of the evening closed with the
beautiful tableaux pan tom in m of the " Italian Brig

The Industrial Association.
Several Inquiries have been mads of late aa to
nature of this organization by gentlemen who '
absent from the city at the time the enterprise
Inaugurated. In answer to thee* inquiries w* an en
abled to snbaatt tbe following hots, which we obtain
from the Secretary: -
Tbe Association la organized oafier th* pcovMost*
of a charter as a Joint Stock Company, with aa au
thorized of oo* hundred thonsani
the shares being valued at ten dollars each.
It Is designed by the Association to purchase proper
grounds la th* immediate vicinity of the city to be
gaed lor the purpose of aa annual fair, in which ovary
department of Industrial Hfo will be rtpraaentod, and
daring th* interim between th* fairs to keep th*
grounds open for general amusements.
The great success of these enterprises in other
cities. In a pecuniary sense, has mad
from which the Inference Is readily made that inject-
msnU made in such a company at Savannah will not
only be sefa bnt pay e handsome dividend to the
share-holders. Bat this la not the sole consideration.
The enterprise ia designed to stimulate every depart*
meat of Industrial life In onr section. New York,
Philadelphia, Baltimore, Cincinnati, St, Lonia, indeed
all tha larges Cities of the United States, have similar
associations which are designed to foster the mechan
ic arte, agriculture and manufacture*.
At th* lata Clnoinnatl Exposition it
reported that every brauch or iadnstry known to
modern dvtUxation was represented, and the receipts
by way of Income to th* Company reached, during
on* exhibition, to over $200,000; thas making an ex
hibition in which sight-seeing waa bnt aa incident,
means of stimulating every branch of Industry, at a
profit to th* persona who gave their Ume end labor to
the enterprise.
Charleston has with commendable enterprise fol
lowed these examples, and the recent Fair at
neighboring seaport waa Indeed most creditable to
this rival slater of oxrs, and of great pecuniary bene
fit to tha city and the stockholders. Th* same may
be said of New Orleans, where the spirit of this
ective, wide-awake, living age ia being demonstrated.
In onr own State—at Atlanta, Macon, Augusta and
Columbus—the expectations of the persons concerned
have been folly realized. No one likes to iav.-et
money without tome assurance of a profitable return,
In this instance we have evidence enough to satisfy
ns that this profit can be made. We would, how
ever, choose to recommend the ente
ground that it promise* good to onr city, whose
growth in materia] resources should be the considera
tion of every good citizen.
W* are informed that a large amount of tha slock
baa been subscribed, and that an organization,
(Jer the provisions of the charier, will soon be made.
With snob men of bnslneas character end enterprise
as Ravannah can prodnoe, in charge of thle andrr-
taking, we must confidently predict its eioeess.
The following gentlemen have beoa appointed
wait upon onr citizsaa to solicit snbecriptions of
stock: Henry Bryan, at Bryan ft Hunter's; Robert
M. Wayne, at Ketchum ft Hartridge’s; E. J. Moses,at
Grady ft Moaes’; John W. Anderson, at J. W. Ander
son’s Sona ft Co.; J. P. White, Congress street; J. J.
Dele, Lumber Merchant; M. A. Dehoney, Bryan
street; O. H. Lufbarrow, Broughton street; P. W.

As soon as the returns of these gentlemen are made,
an election for a President and Board of Directors
will be had by the stockholders.
