Weekly Resume of the New York
Market.
New York, September 19.—The market for cot
ton generally ruled dull, and may be said to have
been depressed throughout the entire week. The
heavy receipts at all ports imparted a weak tone
to values, notwithstanding the Liverpool market
was reported steady. The increased offerings for
the new croD on doc-t caused a break in prices,
and, to close tramactions, holders have conceded
X@Xc per pound under current quotations for
the old crop. In contracts for future delivery
business has been quite brisk, aud the market at
times was considerably agitated. Total sales of
the week included 137,494 bales, of which 131,100
bales were for contracts, and 6,394 bales for im
mediate delivery.
