DR. JAYNE’S
OLEAGINOUS HAIR TONIC.
Copy of a letter from Dr. S. S. Fitch, dated
Philadelphia, May 10, 1838.
DR. JAYNE—Dear Sir, —1 feel that I can
hardly say enough to you in favor of Jayne's
Oleaginous Hair Tonic, prepared by you. My
hair had been falling oIF about two years, and had
become very thin, threatening speedy baldness,
when I commenced using this remedy. In about
one week, it ceased to fail oIF. 1 have used it now
about three months, and have as full and thick a
head of hair aj I can possib y desire. I have
recommended its use to a number of my friends,
W'ho all speak well of it. If faithfully employed,
I have no doubt of its general success. I may add
that before using the Tonic, I had iried almost all
the various articles employed for the hair, such as
the Macassar Oil, all the different preparations of
Bear’s Oil, Vegetable Hair 0:1, &c. &c., without
experiencing much, if any, benefit. Respectfully
yours, S. S. Fitch, No. 172 Chesnut street.
(£j*Bcfore Dr. Fitch used this Tonic his ha r be
gan to be gray, but since then "here is not a gray
hair to be found on his head.
Philadelphia, May 11, 1838.
Dr. Jayne—Dear Sir, —I cheerfully and with
pleasure submit the following to you, with the
liberty of your making it public, should you have
the desire: —For several mouths past my hair had
been rapidly fallirg off, so much so indeed that by
passing my fingers lightly through it, 1 could obtain
a quantity in rny hand. I had tried all the fash
ionable Oils of the day, without having received
the slightest sensible benefit. The only resource
that seemed left to me, was to have my head shav
ed and wear a wig. Having, through a friend who
had profitted by its use, heard of the remarkable
cures effected by Jayne’s Oleaginous Hair Tonic,
sold by you, I was induced, as a dernier resort, to
try it. 1 have used two bott'e?,and am pleased to
say, that alter a few applications, my hair ceased
entirely from coming out, the joung hair made its
appearance in great abundance, and that now I
have a fine, luxuriant growth, and believe it to be
the best remedy ever yet discovered. A fair trial
will be its best recommendation. Independently
of its virtues as a restorative and preventive, it
imparts to the hair a fine hea thy, glossy appear
ance, rendering it soft and flexible, which will
make it an invaluable acquisition for the toilet of
every one at alt desirous of beautifying that great
est of adornments of the face—the hair.
Returning my most sincere thanks for saving
me from premature baldness, by the use of the
above 1 onic, 1 am, dear Sir, your obedient servant,
L. Rinaldo Sank, No. 108 Walnut st.
Copy of a letter from the Rev C. C Park, Pastor
of the Baptist Church at Haddonfield, N. J.
Haddonfield, N. J., Feb. 12, 1839.
Dk. D Jayne, Sir I take pleasure in inform
ing you that the bottle of Jayne’s Hair Tonic,
which 1 obtained of you last October, has proved
most satisfactory and successful. My hair had for
a long time been exceedingly thin. But for two
or three years past it had so fallen out that m3'
head had become almost entirely bald. I was un
der the necessity of concealing the baldness by
combing the hair on the sides jver it. But now,
after using about half of a bottle of the “Tonic,”
I have as luxuriant growth of tiair as I ever had.
C. C. Park.
This valuable remedy for the giowth, preserva
tion. and restoration of the Hair, can be obtained
wholesale and retail, fiom

RHEUMATISM,
COHEN’S RHEUMATIC EMBROCATION.—
Dr. M. B. Cohen, proprietor of the universally
celebrated lotion for the cure of Chronic and Infla
matory Rheumatism. Sprains, Lumbago Pains and
Swellings in the Joints, &c., known as t ohen’s
Rheumatic Embrocation, begs respectfully to refer
all persons suffering from these disea-es to the
thousands of cures tiiat his preparation has accom
plished, and to the numerous strange and highlv
respectable testimonials which have, from lime to
time, been published to that effect in New York
and other places. So certain and searching is this
Liniment in its operations, even in cases of long
standing, and of an obstinate nature, that it has
never been known to fail. The following letters
are selected from hundreds of others of a like de
scription. It wi ibe proper that all persons using
the Liniment see that it is accompanied with the
signature of the proprietor in his own hand writing.
Since the introduction of this remedy to the public,
various empirics have been palmed upon the coun
try, Nostrums and Lotions, and Liniments, and
“Infallible Rheumatic Mixtures,” all of which be
ing a compound of ignorant quacks, are calculated,
more or less, to injure the system rather than re
move any complaint. In proof of the estimation
in which the Embrocation is held by respectable
men in the medical profession, as well as by the
thousands of persons who have been effcctua ly
cured of Rheumatism, the subscriber has subjoined
letters from a few who are well ami popularly
known to the entire society in New York, and
whose opinions and professional judgments are
universally esteemed.
M. B. COHEN,
No. 275$ Hudson street, N. Y.
New York, Aug. 3, 1838.
Dear Sir—Having frequency witnessed the ap
plication of vour Rheumatic Embrocation, and tl e
beneficial effects arising therefrom, it affords me
pleasure to state that I most cheerfully recommend
it as an invaluable remedy, and the best known for
the cure of that painful and distressing complaint,
either in its acute or chronic form.
WILLIAM F PIATT, M. D.
Late Corresponding Secretary of the Medical Soci
ety of the City and county of New York.
To Dr. M. B. Cohen.
Dr. M. B. Cohen—ln reply to your request as to
my opinion of your Rheuratic Embrocation, I
most willingly acknowledge that I have used it in
my practice, and found it an invaluable remedy as
a palliative Liniment in cases of Rheumatism.
CHAS. A. VAN ZANDT, M. D.
New York, April 20, 1839.
I certify that I have used Dr. M. B. Cohen’s
Rheumatic Embrocation, and have found it a most
useful adguvant in the treatment of this painful
disease, and therefore hesitate not to recommend it
in all cases of llheumaiism.
WILLIAM ANDERSON, M. D.,&c.,
No. 342 Broadway, N. Y.
I, Henry B. Nones, Ist Lieut of the Revenue
Cutter Alert, in the service of the United States,
do certify that I was for five months aiflicted with
the Inflamatory Rheumatism, and had every reme
dy by advice of physicians, without any relief, and
finally by advice of Dr. W. Rockwell, health offi
cer at quarantine, I applied to Dr. .Vi. B. Cohen, in
the month of July, 183, for a bottle of his Rheu
matic Embrocation, and after one week’s use of
the specific, was entirely free from all pain, and
was able to resume my place in the service.
H. B. NONES, Ist Lt. U. S. R. S.
New York, August Ist, 1637.

Mr. Ernenpittsch, the Rector of the Academy,
already favorably known to the community, has
charge of the Classical department and all the
branches of education requisite for admission to
our best Colleges. His attainments as a scholar
and success in imparting useful knowledge, emi

Mr. Ring, the principal English Teacher, re
cently engaged by the Board, comes with the high
est recommenda ions as to character, talents, lite

On the whole, the Board confidently recommend
to the public the principal Academy and the Branch

they have heretofore been, and promising great
usefulness to those who may avail themselves of
the advantages which they offer.
