A REAL BLESSING TO MOTHERS. I
DR. W. EVANS' CELEBRATED SOOTHING*
SYRUP, for Children Cutting their Teeth.- This
infallible remedy has preserved hundreds of chil-;
dren, when thought past recovery, from convul
sions. As soon as the Syrup is rubbed on the
gums, the child will recover. The preparation Is
so innocent, so efficacious and so pleasant, that noi
child will refuse to let its gums he rubbed with it.i
When infants are at the age of four months, though
there is no appearance of teeth, one bottle of the
Syrup should be used on the gums, to open the
pores. Parents should never be without the Syrup
in the nursery where there are young children ; for
if a child wakes in the night with pain in the gums,
the Syrup immediately gives ease, by opening the]
pores and healing the gums ; thereby preventing'
convulsions, fevers, &c. Sold only at Dr. Wm .,
Evans^Medical Office, 100 Chatham street, New:
’York, where the Doctor maybe consulted on all
diseases of children.
PROOF POSITIVE OF THE EFFICACY OF
Dr. E VANS’ SOOTHING SYRUP.—To the Agent
of Dr. Evans ’ Soothing Syrup: Dear Sir—The,
»rcat benefit afforded to my suffering infant by
your Soothing Syrup, in a case of protracted and a
painful dentition, must convince every feeling pa-1
rent how essential an early application of such an«
J ivaluable medicine is to relieve infant misery and*
torture. My infant, when teething, experienced
luch acute sufferings, that it was attacked with
ronvulsions, and my wife and family supposed that
death would soon release the babe from anguish,
till we procured a bottle of your Syrnp • which as
soon as applied to the gums, a wonderful change
was produced, and after a few applications the
child displayed obvious relief, and by continuing m
its use, I am glad to inform you the child has com
pletely recovered, and no recurrence of that awful
complamt has since occurred ; the teeth are ema-||
nating and the child enjoys perfect health.jk
1 give j&u my cheerful permission to make th is 3
acknowledgment public, andwill gladly give a?.y3
information on this circumst: nee. 9

DR. JAYNE’S
OLEAGINOUS HAIR TONIC.
WE have, heretofore, numbered ourselves a
mong those who believed that the “ Hair
Tonic,” prepared by Dr. Jayne, was ore of the
many quack nostrums whose virtues are never seen
beyond the fulsome puffs of their authors. We are
willing, at length, to make public acknowledgement
of the error of our belief. An intimate fiiend, somc
two or three months since, all the top of whose
cianium was as bald as a piece of polished marble,
maugre all our jesting and ridicule of the idea of
attempting to cultivate so barren a spot, purchased
a bottle or two of the Hair Tonic from Dr. Jayne,
and according to his directions applied it. During
the present week, the sam: friend ushered himself
into our presence, and uncovering his hitherto na
ked head, astonDhed us with a thin though luxuri
ant growth ot hair, from one to two inches in length
—upon the very premises we had believed as un
yielding to cultivation as the trackless sand that
skuts the Atlantic. This is no puff, but it is reli
giously true, and to those who doubt, the gentle
man can be pointed out. What is more in favor of
this Tonic, the case here citod was not one of tern
po.ar} baldness—no sudden loss of the hair^—‘b ut
was one of years’ standing, though the gentlem an
is but 45 years of age.—PhiladelphiahSpirit of i he

DR. JAYNE’S
OLEAGINOUS HAIR TONIC.
Copy of a letter from Dr. S. S. Fitch, dated
Philadelphia, May 10, 1838.
DR. JAYNE —Dear Sir, —I feel that I can
hardly say enough to } r ou in favor of Jayne's
Oleaginous Hair Tonic, prepared by you* My
hair had been falling off’ about two years, and had
become very thin, threatening speedy baldness,
when I commenced using this remedy. In about
one week, it ceased to fall off. I have used it now
about three months, and have as full and thick a
head of hair as I can possibly desire. I have
recommended its use to a number of vay friends,
who all speak well of it. If faithfully employed,
I have no doubt of its genera! success. I may add
that before using the Tonic, I ha 1 iried almost all
the various articles employed for the hair, such as
the Macassar Oil, all the different preparations of
Bear’s Oil, Vegetable Hair Oil, &c. &c,, without
experiencing much, if any, benefit Respectfully
yours, S. S. Fitch, No. 172 Chesnut street.
Hr. Fitch used this Tonic his ha r be
gan to be gray, but since then there is not a gray
hair to be found on his head.
Philadelphia, May 11, 1838.
Dr. Jayne—Dear Sir, —I cheerfully and with
pleasure submit the following to you, with the
liberty of your making it public, should you have
the desire:—For several months past my hair had
been rapidly falling off, so much so indeed that by
passing my fingers lightly through it, I could obtain
a quantity in my hand. I-had tried all the fash
ionable Oils of the day, without having received
the slightest sensible benefit. The only resource
that seemed left to me, was to have my head shav
ed and wear a wig. Having, through a friend who
had profitted by its use, heard of the remarkable
cures effected by Jayne’s Oleaginous Hair Tonic,
sold by 3 - ou, I was induced, as a dernier resort, to
trj it. I have used two bottles, and am pleased to
say, that after a few applications, my hair ceased
entirely from coming out, the young hair made its
appearance in great abundance, and that now I
have a fine, luxuriant growth, and believe it to te
the best remedy over yet discovered. A fair trial
will be its best recommendation. Independently
of its virtues as a restorative and preventive, it
imparts to the hair a fine healthy, glossy appear
ance, rendering it soft and flexible, which will
make it an invaluable acquisition for the toilet of
every one at all desirous of beautifying that great
est of adornments of the face—th* bale.
Returning my most sincere thanks for saving
me from premature baldness, by the use of the
above Tonic, I am, dear Sir, your obedient servant,
L. Rinaldo Sank, No. lOS Walnut st.
Copy of a letter from the Rev. C. C. Park, Pastor
of the Baptist Church at Haddonfield, N. J.
Haddonfxelu, N. J., Feb. 12. 1839.
Dr. D Jayne,—Sir—I take pleasure in inform
ing you that the bottle of Jayne’s Hair Tonic
which I obtained of you last October, has proved*
most satisfactory and suecessful. My hair had for
a long time been exceedingly thin. But for two
or three years past it had so fallen out that my
head had become almost entirely bald. I was un
der the necessity of concealing the baldness by
combing the hair on the sides over it. But now,
after using about half of a bottle of the “Tonic,”
I have as luxuriant growth of hair as I ever had,
C. C. Park.
This valuable remedy for the growth, prescrip
tion, and restoration of the Hair, can be obtained
wholesale and retail, from
