Radical Cure oT Hernia or liuyture, by Dr.
Chase’s improved Surge«fus’ Trusses.
rilH E subscriber has opened ar, office, at the Drug

treatment of Hernia or Rupture,|by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. |ie has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did liot delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons wlJo have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressfig and dangerous j
alfcction, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of teing entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate re§-ntion of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials prove severe than
are usually ventured upon by thof# who wearother
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
Other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to tlje confidence of
the profession, as the best known means'of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fol owing is from the Sou nern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in < r own city.
“ All must admit of the radio; 1 cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s 'Trusses are Secidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.” I
Persons from a distance can hauethe instruments
applied, upon application at the cffice, and all ne

it themselves. The poor, who a e laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be t sated gratuitous

This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success which has attended it through al! ot its
trying circumstances, namely, “live day's,’ the
same success which followed it in a Northern lati

or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by 31. Cheveres. from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wabenothe, or Great .Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already' enriched to an almost
incredible extent the children of this war! ike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the "art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of e.’ery Indian who rely
with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers.
Below is a cop.v of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,

the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.

Dr. Peters—Dear Sir, —By requestof your agent,
1 Mr. Harrison, I send you a few fines respecting the
j almost miraculous effects of your pilE; and 1 would
I add, that you may make use ol them, in connection
| with my name, in any' manner you deem proper, 1
■ speak of their meiits from experience,as 1 and my
■ family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in thiee
j years ; and so great ax; the benefits we have recei v-
I ed Lorn them in general, that I would rather pnr
i chase them at ten dollars abox than have my house
without them. I will not enumerate the afflictions
they have relieved us of ; but 1 can assure you they
were many, and of very opposite natures, w hich
has fully proved to me that your medicine isasira
■ pic purifier of the system, and therefore equally
i the enemy' of every disease. 1 will mention one
case. 1 have a sister who had been for a long pe
riod sc’ erely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the grave.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; but all their dibi ts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate hersuffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we ail consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable. By' good
fortune, however, as she w r as in this situation, ex
pect ng every day to be her last, ymur pills were
introduced into my r family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their elfects tiiat three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less Ilian three months she was
I perfectly restored to health. This case, I and ail
i who were witness of it, (but more especially the
j suffering considered to the next tiling to j
; miraculous; and yet 1 could mention many more
J of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills
were equa ly successful in rescuing the patients
from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country ? But this I presume
you know from the immense quantity you dispose
of I may mention .however, that notwithstanding
its general use, 1 never heard an individual complain
of its effects. My residence is limiies from Lai
eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen
timents of regard, ymur ob’t servant.

To Dr. Peters, —Sir —For upward* 3 of fifteen |
months, I have been cruelly' afflicted with Fever
and Ague; and during the time could hnd nothing—
though 1 had applied to every thing that gave me
any thing like permanent relief. At length, how- ,
ever, your pills w’ere recommended to me, by one
of our best physicians, and 1 am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used
two boxes when 1 found that they had restored me
i to perfect health. Since then, various members of
j my family have used them with equal success—
-1 and consequently I feel it my duty to apprise you
