A REAL BLESSING TO MOTHERS. j
DR W. EVANS' CELEBRATED SOOTHING
SYRUP, for Children Cutting their Teeth. —This
infallible-remedy has preserved hundreds of chil
dren, when thought past recovery, from convul
sions. As soon as the Syrup is rubbed on the
gumSj the child will recover. The preparation is
so innocent, so efficacious and so pleasant, that no I
child will refuse to let its gums be rubbed with it.
W hen infants are at the age of four months, though
there is no appearance of teeth, one bottle of the
Syrup should be used on the gums, to open the
pores. Parents should never be without the Syrup
in the nursery where there are young childitn ; for |
if a cl ild wakes in the night with pain in the gums, I
the Syrup immediately gives ease, by opening the j
pores and healing the gums; thereby preventing j
convulsions, fevers, &c. Sold only at Dr. Win. j
Evans* Medical Office, 100 Chatham street. New !
York, where the Doctor may be consulted on all
diseases of children.
PROOF POSITIVE OF THE EFFICACY OF
Dr. EVANS' SOUTHING SYRUP.—To the Agent
of Dr. Evans' Soothing Syrup: Dear Sir—The
benefit adbided to my suilering infant by
mur Soothing Syrup, in i. case of protracted and
lainful dentition, must convince every feeling pa
ent how essential an early application of such an
I ivaluable medicine is to relieve infant misery and
Diture. My infant, when tcethmg, expeiieuced
Rich acute sufferings, that it was attacked with
convulsions, and my wife and family supposed that
death wourd soon release the babe from anguish,
till we procured a bottle of your Syrnp ; which as
soon as applied to the gums, a wonderful change
was pioduced, and after a few applications the
child displayed obvious relief, and by continuiug in
its use, I am glad to inform you the child has com
pletely recovered, and no recurrence of that awful
complaint has since occurred; the teeth are ema
nating daily and the child enjoys perfect health.
1 give you my cheerful permission to make this
acknowledgment public, andwill gladly give any
information on ihis circumst. are.

HERMITAGE EXTRACT.—This lately in
vented combination of delightful odors, has
acquired a just popularity, not only by reason of
the strength and delicacy, but of the extraordina
ry duration of its perfume. Whilst the strength of
many other extracts and essences is almost as eva
nescent as the bloom of the flowers from which
they are derived, the Hermitage retains its fra
grance for an in efinite length of time, and is
scarce to be removed from the garment on which it
is poured, by washing; hence it is probably the
cheapest and most delightful perfume of our labora

ACADEMY OF RICHMOND COUNTY.
THE Trustees of this institution are happy to
have it in their power to. state, that both the
principal Academy in Augusta, and the branch at
Summerville, have resumed their exercises, under
the management of Teachers who have the full
confidence of the Trustees, and who, they are sa
tisfied, are fully entitled to that of the public.
Mr. Ernenputsch, the Rector of the Academy,
already favorably known to the community, has
charge of the Classical department and all the
branches of education requisite for admission to
our best Colleges. His attainments as a scholar
and success in imparting useful knowledge, emi
nently qualify* him for the discharge of the im
portant duties of his station.
Mr. Ring, the principal English Teacher, re
cently engaged by the Board, comes with the high
est recommends* ions as to character, talents, lite
rary attainments and skill in teaching, and the
Trustees feel assured that he will sustain the re
putation which led to his selection.
The branch of the Academy at Summerville is
under the immediate management of Mr. Frank
lin George, a gentleman of experience in teach
ing, and highly recommended. The advantage of
the location of this branch of the Academy* in one
of the most healthful neighborhoods in the State,
and sufficiently remote from the unfavorable in
fluence of a crowded town, are too well known to
need comment.
On the whole, the Board confidently* recommend
to the public the principal Academy and the Branch
at Summerville, as being on a better footing than
they have heretofore been, and piomising great
usefulness to those who may avail themselves of
the advantages which they offer.
A. CUNNINGHAM,
jan 11 President of Board of Trustees.
