strengthen am Igive tone to the stomach and bow
els, and create u new and healthy action through
out tire systerrf They produce a natural and per
manent appetite; they defend the system against
new or subsequent attacks*T>f the disease; they
assist the various operations of nature by cleansing
the system of vitiated, corrupt and acrid humors,
and thus invigilate and reanimate the whole frame.
Possessing a purgative quality, they cannot remain
in the bowels to produce such other diseases as
often follow thb injudicious treatment of the fever

unpleasant consequences. In fine, the public are

rest, but to eradicate and destroy the lust seeds of
this most distressing malady of the human family.
The proprietor! solemnly pledge themselves that
they do not coiiain a particle of minerals in any
shape or form, lut are composed entirely of simple
vegetable substances, which either separate)}' or
combined, and without regard to sex or age, are
perfectly harmiss in their effects upon the human
system. I

all persons suffering from these disea es to the
thousands of cures that his preparation has accom

respectable testimonials T '.ich have, from time to
time, been published to that effect in New York
and other places. So certain and searching is this
Liniment in its operations, even in cases of long

never been known to fail. The following letters

Since the introduction of this remedy to the public,
various empirics have been palmed upon the coun

“Infallible Rheumatic Mixtures,” all of wirich be

in which the Embrocation is held by respectable
men in the medical profession, as well as by the
thousands of persons who have been effectua ly

CINQ JOUES,

ANTi-BALSAMIC GONORRHOEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days.
I’M'IHIS incomparable and invaluable remedy so
X long known, and used with such unparralleied
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeais, ap
pears to need no pane&vric;. Its operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable “ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success which has attended it through all of its
trying circumstances, namely, “five days,” —the
same success which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wasenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an ahnost
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers.
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.

is to subdue every vestige of inflamation, and then
acts mildly and copiously as a diuretic; thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the subduclion of this loathsome malady —and ev

assertion, that copious diuiosis and reduction of in

The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
alfect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree -
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been

invented as will convince the most credulous. The
principles on w hich it acts are simple and plain. It is
an a milted fact that this complaint, whether called

the Nervous Headache may rest assured that this

Dear Sir—My daughter,a girl of tounetn, was
sadly afflicted wim the comp amt that physicians
termed a scald head ; and 1 leared, independent of
ever\ other evil, that she would be bald in conse- j
quenco By the recommendation, however, of the |
Reverend Mr. Perrin, 1 applied your ointment to the
afflicted part; and 1 thunk God that my child is
now entirely recovered from the -Disease, and is
getting her hair as fast as can be expected The
cure was effected in i alher less than two months;
during which time I us<d fiv dollars worth of oint

whatever.

Dear Sir—l have to request of you to forward
me, two hundred boxes of Ointment, by the most
immediate conveyance, and w ilhout regard to the
expense of carriage, as 1 am quite out, and much
in want of it.—You know my estimation of your
valuable discovery, and therefore I shall only add,

Dr. Harrison.
Sir —The virtues of your Specific Ointment, have I
been long known to me,as I have used none other I
in my rather extensive practice forseveral years, and
if y<Ju think it would be to your advantage, I can
furnish you with twenty certificates of important
cures which it lias effected under my ow n imme
diate inspection : the last being one of a severe
and apparently p-rpetual ulcer, in the back of a
poor woman, Mary Baxter who resides in 216 Di
vision street, which it completely healed in twenty
one days. My present chief object in writing to
you, is to learn who is your authorised agent in this
city, for, being in want of a supply of your oint
ment, and the pereou Mr. Boyle, from whom I used
to purchase it, having tailed and gone out of busi
ness, I am fearful if 1 purchase at random, that I
may he imposed on by a counterfeit.
Your obedient servant,

Dr Harrison.
Sir, —i have no hesitation in stating, in reply to
your note, that your “ Specific Ointment” is truly
equal to the majority ol the ends for which you re
commend it. i qualify my certificate by the word
majority, as it is my maxim to give no opinion in
medical matters where 1 have had no experience,
fn sprains, bruises, inflammations, eruptions, w hit
lows, piles, Ac., it is in» universal recipe. I have
also used it on the leg of a boy w hich had been
bitten by an adder, and (be extraction of the poison
and ultimate cure was so rapid, that my patient was"
as well as ever in a week ; and has remained so to
this day

' # 'HESE Pills are no longer among those of doubt-
A ful utility. They have passed away from the
hundreds that are daily launched upon the tide of
experiment, and now stand before the public as
high in reputation, and as extensively employed in
all parts of the United States, the Canadas, Texas
Mexico, and the West Indies, as any medicine tha*
has ever been prepared for the relief of suffering
man. They have been introduced wherever it was
found possible to carry them ; and there are but
few towns that do not contain some remarkable
evidences of their good effects. The certificates
that have been presented to the propiietor exceed
twenty thousand! upwards of five hundred of
which are from regular practising physicians, why
are the most competent judges of their merits.
Often have the cures performed by Hus medicin
been the subject of editorial comment, in variou
newspapers and journals; and it may with truth he
asserted, that no medicine of the kin 1 has ever re
ceived testimonials of greater value thin are at
tached to this.
They' are in general use as a family medicine
and there are, thousands of families who declare they
re never satisfied until they have a supply always
on hand.
They have no rival in curing and preventing
Billious Fevers, F%verand Ague, Dyspepsia, Liver
Complaints, tuck Headache, Jaundice, Asthma,
Dropsy, Rheumatism, Enlargement of the Spleen,
J-iles, Cholic, Female Obstructions, Heartburn,

and Bowels, Incipient Diarrhoea,Flatulence,Habitu
al Costiveness, Loss of Appetite, Blotched or Sallow
Complexion, and in cases of torpor of the bowels,
where a cathartic or aperient is needed They are
exceedingly mild in their operation, producing
neither nausea, griping nor debility.
The following was forwarded to Dr. Peters, by a
highly respectable Planter of Wake County, No
Ca ,March 3d, 1838:
Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, —By request of your agent,
Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your pil’s; and I would
add, that you may make use ol them, in connection
with my' name, in any manner you deem proper, I
speak of their merits from experience, as 1 and my
family' have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three
years ; and so great arc the benefits we have receiv
ed from them in general, that I would rather pur
chase them al ten dollars abox than have my house
without them. 1 will not enumerate the afflictions
they have relieved us of; but I can assure you they
were many, and of very opposite natures, which
has fully' proved to me that your medicine is a sim
ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally
the enemy of every disease. I will mention one
case. I have a sister who had been for a long pe
riod severely afflicted with dropsy' in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the grave.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure ; but all their efforts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we all consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good
fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex
pect ng every day to be her last, y r our pills were
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their effccls that three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she was
perfectly'restored to health. This case, I and all
w'ho w'ere witness of it, (but more especially' the
suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to
miraculous; and yet J could mention many' more
of an equally' desperate nature, in which your pills
w'ere equally successful in rescuing the patients
from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country? But this I presume
you know' from the immense quantity you dispose
of I may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use, I never heard an individual complain
of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Ral
-1 eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. 1 am, with sen-
I timeots of regard, your ob’t servant.
A. G. BANKS.
To Dr. Peters, —Sir—For upward" of fifteen
months, I have been ciuelly afflicted with Fever
and Ague; and during the time could find nothing—
though 1 had applied to every thing that gave me
any thing like permanent relief. At length, how- #
ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one
of our best physicians, and I am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that I had scarcely used
two boxes when I found that they' had restored me
j to perfect health. Since then, various members of
' my family have used them with equal success —
I and consequently I feel it my duty to apprise you
1 of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
I certificate, as I am anxious to add rny public testi
i mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your mi<
i rivalled medicine. Respectfully yours,

rpHE subscriber has the pleasure ol announcing
JL to ihe citizens of the U. States, that he has
purchased, fur a very large sum and from I lie in

recipe ar d ri-ffii for making tins astonishing medi
cine Until Ihe appearance of Ihe “ Lucina Cor
dial,’ (about three years since,) it was thought that
the complaints, which it speedily overcomes, were
beyond I he reach of human remedy as for upwards
of a thousand ytnrs. they had baffled the wisdom
and ingenuity of the most profound physicians in
all parts of the world. This Cordial, however, to
the great advantage of the human race, soon proved
itseil to be the desideratum so long sought for ; and
accordingly, notv\ ithsiandirg tl e brief peri d of its
existence, it has required a celebrity so great, thst
it is eagerly inquired for throughout the civilized
globe. Dr. Magnin soon finding that the demand
was so vast as o render a supply impossible, dis
posed of the recipe and right ol sale, under obliga
lions of secrecy, fer England, the United States,
and othei countries, only preserving France arid
Italy for himself. Thus has the subscriber pos
sessed himself of the invaluable secret; and now
hastens togivethc inhabitants of his line of agents,
the benefits of his speculation.
“Le Cordial De Lucine,” or, in English, “rho
Lucira Cordial,” is a general invigorator of the
human frame ! In all ihe various Cases of languor,
lassitude, amt debilitation ; it is an unfailing reme
dy ; as it is equally its province to impart cheerful,
ness and decision to ihe mind, as health and vigor
to the body. Bui the peculiar virtue on which its
celebrity is based, is the facility and certainty with
which if restores the virile powers when they have
been deatroved by dis< ase.lime, recklessness,or any
of the numerous causes which terminate in the
prostration of those functions.
In common with the generality of really good
medicines, thisC o-.dial contains nothing of a mer
curial or deleterious nature, among the many ingre
dients w'hich compose it ; but is, al the same tune,
so simple, yet so t fficacious, that while it can reno
vate the prostrated energies of a giant, an mfan
may use it,not only with impunity, but w ith ad
vantage.
The usages of society are unfortunately such,
that, notwithstanding the bem fits which would be
sure to result from it, we cannot enter into an analy
sis ol this incc lfinable Cordial here,or publish many
of the documents which have been received, as
vouchers of the blessings it has conferred on num
bers of despairing individuals. But this vve cannot
forbear remarking—that it has been demonstrated
that t here is scarcely ever, it any' such thing at all,
as natural barrenness, or as natural imbecility of
the procreant fund ions, in either sex ; and therefore,
that the seevils are the effects of artificial causes,
and may be speedily subdued «nd removed by the
use ol “ I.e Cordial cie Lucine.”
The Lucina Cordial is also in indubitable cure
for the Gleet, and the Fluor Albus, obstructed, diffi
cult, or painful Menstruation ; also, for the incon
linenct ol Urine,or the involuntary discharge there
of. It is likewise an invaluable and unrivalled
medif ine in cases of Chronic Eruptions olTheskin,
and in the dropsical affections of the aged.

October 3, 1837.
To Dr. Magnin:—My dear friend—l am mos
gratified at the unprecedented popularity of your
“Lucina Cordial,” and am able to bear testimony to
its surprising virtue. I had a patient recently,
1 M . a gentleman ol fortune, who had lor
several years abandoned himself in the vortex oi
dissipation ; and was only reclaimed from it at
length by the utter prostration of all his virile ener
gies . He was, indeed, reduced to the last extremily
of debility and i.istelessness. for, if an occasional
flash of excitement warmed his system, the reac
tion was almost immediate, and the result perfect
prostration. I had applied all the usual nostrums
in such ca?es ; but, as I had anticipated, without
success; and when i saw the “Lucina Cordial”
advertised, 1 must confess that even the great weight
of your name did net give me much hope in it, at
least so far as regarded the case in hand. I felt
bound to try it,however, and was soon satisfied of
its efficacy; for before a buttle was expended, my
patient gaveevidence of the returning elasticity of
his system ; and he is now, having Used four bottles,
as well is ever.
The number of documents, such as the above
which have been received by Mr. Magnin, since the
first appearance of “ Le Cordial de Lucine,” would
fill a volume as large as the Bible.
