EMERSON, M. D. New Orleans, Match 20th, 1838 Dr. Harrison. Sir —The virtues of your Specific Ointment, have been long known to me, as 1 have used none other I in my rather < xtensive practice forseverai years, and | if yv.u think it would be lu your advantage, I can furnish you with twenty certificates of important cures which it lias effected under my own imme diate inspection : the last being one of a severe and apparently p-rpetual ulcer,in the back of a poor woman, Mary Baxter who resides in 216 Di vision street, which it completely healed in twenty one days. My present chief object in writing to you, is 10 learn who is your authorised agent in this city, for, being in want of a supply of your oint ment, and 1 tie person Mr. Boyle, from whom I used lo purchase it, having failed and gone out of busi ness, 1 am fearful if ipurchaseat random, that 1 may he imposed on by a counterfeit. Your obedient servant, EDWARD RAMSEY, M. D. Cincinnati, August 9,1837. Dr Harrison. Sir, —1 have no hesitation in stating, m reply to your note, that your “ Specific Ointment” is truly equal lo the majority ot the ends for which you re commend it. 1 qualify ray certificate by the word majority, as it is my maxim to give no opinion in medical matters where 1 have had no experience. In sprains, bruises, inflammations, eruptions, whit lows, piles, Ac., it is mv universal recipe. I have aLo used it on 1 lie leg of a boy which had been bitten by an adder, and the extraction of the poison, and ultimate cure was so rapid, that my patient was a« well as ever in a week ; and has remained so to this day Yours respectfully, HENRY JACOBS, M. They have been introduced wherever it was found possible to carry them ; and there are but few towns that do not contain some remarkable evidences of their good effects. The certificates that have been presented to the propjietor exceed twenty thousand! upwards of five hundred of which are from regular practising physicians, why are the most competent judges of their merits. Often have the cures performed by this medicin been the subject of editorial comment, in varum newspapers and journals; and it may with truth be asserted, that no medicine of the kin 1 has ever re ceived testimonials of greater value thin are at tached to this. They are in general use as a family medicine and there are.lhousands of families who declare they re never satisfied until they have a supply always on hand. 1 hey have no rival in curing and preventing * Billious Fevers, Fever and Ague, Dyspepsia, Liver Complaints, Sick Headache, Jaundice, Asthma, ■ Dropsy, Rheumatism, Enlargement of the Spleen, Piles, Cholic, Female Obstructions, Heartburn, Furred 'longue, Nausea, Distension of the Stomach and Bowels, Incipient Diarrhoea,Flatulence,Habitu- I al Costiveness, Loss of Appetite,Blotchedor Sallow Complexion, and in cases of torpor of the bowels, where a cathartic or aperient is needed They are exceedingly mild in their operation, producing neither nausea, griping no; debility. The following was forwarded to Dr. Peters, by a 1 highly respectable Planter of Wake County, No Ca ,March 3d, 1838; Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, By request of your agent, Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the almost miraculous effects of your pills; and I would add, that you may make use ol them, in connection with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I speak ol their merits from experience, as 1 and my family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three years ; and so great ai*c the benefits we have receiv ed from them in general, that 1 would rather pur chase them at ten dollars a box Ilian have my Imjusc without them. 1 will not enumerate the afflictions they have relieved us ol ; but 1 can assure you they were many, and of very opposite natures, which has fully proved to me that your medicine is a sim ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally the enemy of every disease. I will mention one case. I have a sister who had been for a long pe riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and was brought by it to the very verge of the grave. She was attended by the most eminent physicians that money could procure; but all their efforts to restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer ings were fruitless ; and accordingly, we all consid ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex pect,ng every day to be her last, your pills were introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal pable were their effects that three doses visibly re lieved her, and in less than three months she was perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all who were witness of it, (but more especially the suffering party,) consideied to be the next tiling to miraculous; and yet 1 could mention many more of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills were equally successful in rescuing the patients from the jaws of death. Need 1 add that the popu larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in this section of the country > But this 1 presume you know from the immense quantity you dispose of. i may mention, however, tliatnotwithstanding its general use, 1 never heard an individual complain of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from l ai eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. 1 am, with sen i timents of regard, 3'our ob’t servant. A. G. BANKS. To Dr. Peters, —Sir —For upward® of fifteen months, I have been ciuelly afflicted with Fever and Ague; and during the time could lind nothing— though I had applied to every thing that gave me any tiling like permanent relief. At length, how ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one of our best physicians, and 1 arn most grateful and ; happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used two boxes when 1 found that they had restored me i to perfect health. Since then, various members of | rny family have used them with equal success— and consequently I feel it my duty to apprise xou | of the fact, and to request of you to publish this | certificate, as 1 am anxious to add my public testi [ mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your un j rivalled medicine. Until the appearance of lhe“ Lucina Co dial,’’ (about three years since,) it was thought that the complaints, which it speedily overcomes, were beyond l he roach of human remedy, as for upwards of a thousand years, they had baffled the wisdom and ingenuity of the most profound physicians m all pans ot the world. 'Phis Cordial, however, to the great advantageof the human race, soon proved itself to be the desideratum so long sought for; and accordingly, notwithstanding tl e briei peri dofit* existence, it has required a celebrity so great, thr t it is eagerly inquired for throughout ihe civilized globe. In all tbe various cases of languor lassitude, and debilitation ; it is an unfailing reme dy ; as it is equally its province to impart cheerful ness and decision to ti e mind, as health and vigor to the body But the peculiar virtue on which its celebrity is based, is the facility and certainty with which it restores the virile powers when they have hern destroyed by’ distase, time, recklessness, orany of the numerous causes which terminate in the prostration of those functions. In common with the generality of really good medicines, thisC ordiai contains nothing of a tner curial or deleterious nature, among the many ingre- •> dients which compose it; hut is, a; the same time, so simple, yet so efficacious, that fvhile it can retio vate the prostrated energies of a giant, an tnfan may use it,not only with impunity, but with ad vantage. The usages of society are unfortunately such, that, notwithstanding the ben- fits which would be sure to result from it, we cannot enter imo an analy sis ol this ine i unable Cordial here, or publish mat y of the documents which have been received as vouchers of the blessings it has conferred on rmm bers of despairing individuals. Hut this wc cannot forbear remarking—that n lias been demonstrated that there is scarcely ever, it any such thing ai all, as natural barrenness, or as natural imbecility of the procreant functions, in either sex : and therefore that thfseevils arc the effects of artificial causes, and may be speedily subdued «nd removed by tne use ol *• Lc Cordial de Lucine.” The Lucina Cordial is also an indubitable cure for the Gleet, and the Fluor A Ibus, obstructed, diffi cult, or painful Menstruation ; also, for the mcon tinenct ot Urine,or the involuntary discharge there of.
