Radical Cure ol Hernia or Rupture, by Dr.
Chase** Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
PTMHE subscriber has opened an oliicc, at the Drug
j store of Messrs. J. J. Robertson &Co., forths
treatment of Hernia o>- Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent ana accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wearother
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“Thecommittee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fol, owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in our own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the office, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themsehes. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate, from someresponsi*

The instilments are of all sizes, and applicable
to every vliety of reducible rupture.

Sir—The virtues of your Specific Ointment, have
been long known to me,as I have used none other
in my rather extensive practice lorseverai years, and
if you think it would be to your advantage, I can
furnish you with twenty certificates of important
cures which it has effected under my own imme

and appaienlly p-rpetual ulcer, in the back of a
poor woman, Mary Baxter who resides in 216 Di
vision street, which it completely healed in twenty
onedays. My present chief object in writing to
you, is (o learn who is your authorised agent in this
city, for, being in want <>f a supply of your oint

to purchase it, having tailed and gone out of busi

Sir, —1 have no hesitation in stating, in reply to
your note, lhat your “ Specific Ointment” is truly
equal lo the majority ol the ends for which you re
commend it. I quality my certificate by the word
majority, as it is my maxim to give no opinion in
medical matters where i have had no experience,
lit sprains, bruises, inflammations, eruptions, whit
lows, piles, Ac.,it is m* universal recipe. I have
aEo used it on the leg of a boy which had been
b.Uen by an adder, and the extraction of the poison,
and ultimate cure was so rapid, lhat my patient was
as well as ever in a week ; and has remained so to
this day

t UESE Pills arc no longer among those of doubt

hundreds that are daily launched upon the tide of
experiment, and now stand before the public as
high in reputation, and as extensively employed in
all parts of the United States, the Canadas, Texas
Mexico, and the West Indies, as any medicine that
has ever been prepared for the relief of suffering
man. They have been introduced wherever it was
found possible to carry them ; and there are but
few towns that do not contain some remarkable
evidences of their good elfects. The ccrtilicales
that have been presented to the propiietor exceed
twenty thousand! upwards of live hundred of
which are from regular practising physicians, who
are the most competent Judges of their merits.
Often have the cures performed by this mediem
been the subject of editorial comment, in Virion
newspapers and journals ; and it may with truth be
asserted, that no medicine of the kin 1 has ever re
ceived testimonials of greater value thin are at
tached to this.

Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, By requestor y r our agent,
Mr. Harrison, I send you a tew lines respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your piPs; and I would
add, that you may make use oi them, in connection
with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I
speak of their merits from experience,as I and my
family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three
years ; and so great aw? the benetits we have receiv
ed from them in general, that I would rather pur
chase them at ten dollars abox than have my house
without them. I will not enumerate the afflictions
they have relieved us of; but I can assure you they
were many, and of very opposite natures, which
has fully proved lo me that your medicine is a sim
ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally
the enemy of every disease. I will mention one
case. I have a sister who had been for a long pe
riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the grave.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; but all their efforts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we ail consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good
fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex
pecting every day to be her last, your pills wore
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their effecjts that three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she \v as
! perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all
| who were witness of it, (but more especially the
: suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to
| miraculous; and yet I could mention many more
I of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills
- were equally successful in rescuing the patients
i from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu
| larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
| this section of the country7 But this I presume
you know from the immense quantity you dispose
of 1 may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use, 1 never heard an individual complain
of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from bal
eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. 1 am, with sen
timents of regard, your ob’t servant.
A. G. BANKS.
To Dr. Peters, —Sir—For upward® of fifteen
| months, I have been cruelly afflicted with Fever
i and Ague; and during the time could hnd nothing —
: though 1 had applied to every tiling that gave me
! any thing like permanent relief. At length, hovv
| ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one
! of our best physicians, and 1 am most grateful and
; happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used
i two boxes when 1 found that they had restored me
| to perfect health. Since then, various members of
i my family have used them with equal success—
and consequently 1 feel it my duty to apprise you
i of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
j certificate, as lam anxious to add my public testi
-1 mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your un
j rivalled medicine. Respectfully yours,
THEODORE JAMES.

Dr. J. P. Peters —My Dear Sir—On tiie night of

tune, however, 1 had in my pocket a broken box of
your pills —four of which 1 adminislere i, with
such immediate happy effect that in a few minutes
my patient was at ease, and out of danger. This
case, in conned ion with my name is at your ser

rpilE subscriber has the pleasured announcing
M to the citizens of the U. States, that, he has
purchased, for a very large sum and from tiie in
ventor, the celebrated Dr. Magnirt, of Paris hit
recipe ar d right for making this astonishing mtdi
cme. Until the appearance of the “ Lucina Cor
dial,’’ (about three years since,) it was thought that
the complaints, which it speedily overcomes, were
beyond the reach of human remedy as for upwards
of a thousand years, they had baffled the wisdom
and ingenuity of the most profound physicians in
all parts ol the world. This Cordial, however, to
the great advantage of the human race, soon proved
ilseif to be the desideratum so long sought for ; and
accordingly,notwithstanding tl e briei peri dofu»
existence, it has required a celebrity so great, thtl
it is eagerly inquired for throughout the civilized
globe. Dr Magnin soon finding that the demand
was so vast as to render a supply impossible, dis
posed of the recipe and right ol sale, under obliga
tions of secrecy, for England, the United Stales,
and othei countries, only preserving France and
Italy for himself. Thus has ihe subscriber pos
sessed himself ol theinvaluable secret; and now
hastens to give the inhabitants of his line of agents,
the benefits of his speculation.
“le Cordial I)e Lucine,” or, in English, “the
Lucira Cordial,” is a general invigoralor of the
human frame ! In all the various cases of languor,
lassitude, and debilitation ; it is an unfailing reme
dy ; as if is equally its province to imparl cheerful,
ness and decision to the mind, as health and vigor
to the body But the peculiar virtue on which its
celebrity is based, is the facility and certainly w ith
which it restores Ihe virile powers when they have
been destroyed by dis< ase.time,recklessness.orany
of the numerous causes which terminate in tiie
prostration of those functions.
In common with the generality of really good
medicines, this L ordial contains nothing of a mer
curial or deleterious nature, among ihe many ingre
dients which compose it; but is, at «lie same time,
so simple, yet so ♦ ffloacious, that while it ran reno
vate the prostrated energies of a giant, an infan
may use it,not only with impunity, but with ad
vantage.
The usages of society are unfortunately such,
that, notwithstanding the benefits which would be
sure to result from it, we cannot enter irno an analy
sis ol thisine tiraable Cordial here, or publish many
of the documents which have been received, as
vouchers ol the blessings n has conferred on num
bers of despairing mdi\ iduals. But t is wc cannot
forbear remarking—that it has been demonstrated
that there is scarcely ever, il any such thing at ail,
as rialural barrenness, or as natural imbecility of
the procreant lunci ions, in eit her sex ; and t herefore,
that tbcscevils are the effects of artificial causes,
and may be speedily subdued <md removed by the
use ol “ Le Cordial de Lucine.”
The Lucina Cordial is also en indubitable cure
for the (Beet, and i he Fluor Albus, obstructed, diffi
cult, or painful Menstruation ; also, for ihe incon
tinence ol Urine,or the involuntary discharge there
of. It is likewise an in valuable and unrivalled
medicine incases of Chronic Eruptions of theskin,
and in the dropsical affections of the aged.

October 3, id 37.
To Dr. Magnin—My dear friend—l am mos
gratified at the unprecedented popularity of your
“Luc na Cordial,” and am able to near testimony lo
its surprising virtue. 1 had a patient recently,
1 M , a gentleman ol lortune, who had iur
several years abandoned himself in the vortex or
dissipation ; and was only reclaimed from it at
length by the utter prostration of all his vi-deener
gies. He was, indeed, reduced to the last extremity
of debility and l isteiessness. for, if an occasional
flash of excitement warmed his system, the reac
tion was almost iiurntdiaie, and the result perfect
prostration. 1 had applied all the usual nostrums
in such ca»es ; but, as 1 had anticipated, without
success; and when 1 saw the “ Lucius Cordial”
advertised, 1 must confess thal even the great weight
of your name did not give me much hoj»e in it, at
least so far as regarded the case in hand. I felt
bound lo try it, how ever, and was soon satisfied of
its efficacy; for before a boitie was expended, ray
patient gave evidence of the returning elasticity ot
his system ; and he is now, having used four bullies,
as well is ever.
The number of documents, such as the above
which have been received by Mr. Magnin, since the
first appearance of “ Le Cordial de Lucine.” would
fifi a volume as large as the Bible.
