“ The instruments of Dr. Ch;Re have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in

committee, without material inconvenience to the

are usually ventured upon by those who wear ether

“ The committee are induced {by the foregoing

f 'IIIS incompamb e and invaluable remedy «o

This pi ize obtains its own name from the certain
* -ucces which has attended it through al! of its
trying circumstances, uaine.'y, “live days,” —the
1 same success which followed it in a Northern lati
tude -till obtains in a more Southern. The formula
, or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
’ and I azaid by M Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian thief Wabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
1 he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur btt
, siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
VVabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
i cucce'S throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an a most
1 incredible extent the chi.dien of this war ike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals. but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of evciy tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promi-e to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “ait of its com
, i position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
| free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in tiie hands of every Indian who rely
with, 1 may say, religious conlidcnce on its cura
ble powers.
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabcnoshe, to
.11. Chcveret. when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory ptoeexs of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of lime
which i- consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.

Dr. Peters —Lear Sir, By requestor your agent,
Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your piPs; and 1 would
add, that you may make use ol them, in connection
with my name, in any manner you deem proper, 1
speak of their merits from experience,as i and my
family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three
years ; and so great an 1 the benefits we have receiv
ed from them in general, that I would rather pur
chase them at ten dollars a box than have my house
without them. 1 will not enumerate the abactions
they have relieved os of; but 1 can assure you they
were many, and ol very opposite natures, which
lias fully proved to me that your medicine is a sim
ple puniicr of the system, and therefore equally
the enemy of every disease. I vvi 1 mention one
case. 1 have a sister who Had been for a long pe
riod sc’ ercly aliiictcd with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the grave.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; but all their efforts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer

ered her immediate death as inevitable, i.y good
fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex
pect ngevery day to be her lard, your pills were
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their effects tirat three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she'was
perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all
who were witness of it, (but more especially the
suffering party,) considered to be the next tiling to
miraculous; and yet 1 could mention many more
of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills
were equa ly suet cssful in rescuing the patients
from the jaws of death. Need 1 add tiiat the popu- i
