Radical Cure of Hernia or Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
11HE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
store of Messrs. J. J. Robertson it Co., for the
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have beer, radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
others who arc in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
j mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia,
i “ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured u{>on by those who wearother
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced bj- the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in- I
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of i
the profession, as the best known means of me- :
, chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the j
highest chances of radical cure.”
The following is from the Southern Medical and ■
Southern Journal, published in our own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the office, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate, from someresponsi"
ble person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of all sizes, and applicable
: to every variety of reducible rupture.

TO THE FACULTY AND HEADS OF

DR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF

Known to the faculty, or any one else that may
wish to know, by any of the agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx
iously looked for, some one in almost the extreme
North has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting tc
be made from the stalk, a thing not more ausuru
than for one to offer meal from the com stalk, to
say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of
which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg
ed to prove by their use, that they are all that they
profess to be, and will do for otheis what they
have done for such as mav have used them ; as
.his is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will
doubtless be valuable information to families to
know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
I of the hapatine, or active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
j system in much better condition than the other
! kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
j anxiety calomel has been given t» children, and
how they then wished for a substitute. It has
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
ascertained that mey contained alterative end diu
retic properties. The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is .Were it a patent mystery',
they would be bound to reject the medicine, as they
justly do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the
day." If you wish to cleanse the system with a
mild, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be in
his city. We ali know somctmng aoout tois.

CINQ JOURS,
OR
ANTi-BALSAMIC GONORRHCEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Day*.
r MIHIS incomparable and invaluably remedy so
X long known, and used with such unpanalieled
success in the Canadas for the last 3U years, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that U invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable‘‘ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success which has attended it through all of its
trying circumstances, namely, “five days,” —the
same success which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wasenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
i siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshc prized highly and use it with invariable
| success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
, valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
■ Great Spirit, never to divulge the “ait of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers.
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
tiie tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.
TRANSLATION.
“I, Wabenoshe, Chief of the nations Ottowa and

have for my white friend M. Cheveret, (for he has
done many good things for me and ray people,) I
give to him my greatest cure for the bad sickness
which my children have had sent among them as
a punishment by the Great Spirit, and hope that in

This Medicine,l warrrnt by this publication,un
doi a penalty of $5,000, not to contain one parti
cle of corrosive preparation. It is purely vegata
ble in its essences. Its first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every vestige of inflamation, and then
act« mildly and copiously as a diuretic; thereby
holding within itself, requisite virtue, for
the subduction of this loathsome malady—and ev
ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
assertion, that copious reduction of in
flation, are the only two things necessary to effect
a’sound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humoi
alis, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
most loathsome, {>erplexing, and disagreeable dis
eases, consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and
treatment of Gonorrhoea.
Those affected are requested to call and try for
themselves. If the prescriptions are well follow

HEADACHE, SICK OR NERVOUS.
The extraordinary reputation that Dr. Spohn’s
remedy for this distressing corapamt is every day
gaining is certainly a matter of much astonishment,
That so m ich suffering shouldjiave existed lor ages
without any discovery of an effectual prevenfiv >, or
cure, is truly a subject of much regret but Dr. S.
now assures the public that such a remedy has been
invented as will convince the most credulous. The
.nnciples on w hich it acts are simple and plain. It is
an ai milted fact that this complaint, w hether called
Sick Headache, or Nervous Headache, arises prim
arily from the stomach—those who thirk they have
the Nervous Headache may rest assured that this

stomach, and that only through the same channel
must they expect s restoration of ibe naiuraf and

Spobn’s remedy is eminently calculated to auain.
The truth of this position cannot be controverted,
and the sooner sufferers with the headache become
convinced of it, the sooner will their suffering end
in restoration of health, Dr. Bpohn pledges his
professional reputation on this fact. Ttie remedy

Dear Sir—My daughter,a girl of lourteen, was
sadly afflicted witn thecorap aint that physicians
termed a scald head ; and I feared, independent of
ever} other evil, that she would be bald in conse- :
quence. By the recommendation, however, of the
Reverend Mr. Perrin, I applied your ointment to the
afflicted part; and 1 thank God that my child is
now entirely recovered from the disease, and is I
getting her hair as fast as can be expected. The :
cure was effected in rather less than two months;
during whicu urac 1 us«M fiv dollars worth of oint

whatever. MARY HOWARD.

Dear Sir—l have to request of you to forward

immediate conveyance, and w ilhout regard to the
expense of carnage, as I am quite out, and much
in want of it. —You know ray estimation of your

Sir —The virtues of your Specific Ointment, have
been long known to me, as 1 have used none other

i if you think it would be to your advantage, I can i
furnish you w ith twenty certificates of important
cures which it has effected under ray own imme

and apparently perpetual ulcer, m the back of a

I one days. My present chief object in writing to
j you, is to learn who is your authorised agent in this ;

ment, and the person Mr. Boyle, from whom I used

Dr. Harrison.
Sir, —1 have no hesitation in stating, in reply to I

equal lo the majority of the ends for which you re
commend it. 1 qualify ray certificate by the word
majority, as it is ray maxim lo give no opinion in

as well as ever in a week ; and has remained so to
this day

The following was forwarded to Dr. Peters, by a
highly respectable Planter of Wake County, No
Ca.,March 3d, 183 S:
Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, By request of your agent,
Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your piPs; and I would
add, that you may make use ol them, in connection
with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I
speak of their merits from experience.as I and my
family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three
years ; and so great ane the benefits wc have receiv
ed from them in general, that I would rather pur
chase them at ten dollars a box than have my house
without them. I will not enumerate IheaftPctions
they have relieved us of; but I enn assure you they
were many, and of very opposite natures, which
has fully proved to me that your medicine is a sim
ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally
j the enemy of every disease. I will mention one
case. 1 have a sister who had been for a iong pe
riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the grave.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; but all their eilbrts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we all consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good
fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex
pecting every day to be her last, your pills were
introduced into ray family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their effects that three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she was
perfectly restored lo health. This case, I and all
who were witness of it, (but more especially' the
suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to
miraculous; and y'et I could mention many' more
of an equally desperate nature, in which yourpills
were equally successful in rescuing the patients
from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country ? But this I presume
you know from the immense quantity you dispose
of. I may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use, I never heard an individual complain
of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Ral
eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. 1 am, with sen
timents of regard, your ob’t servant.
A. G. BANKS.
To Dr. Peters, —Sir—For upward s of fifteen
months, I have been cruelly afflicted with Fever
and Ague; and during the time could find nothing —
j though I had applied to every thing that gave me
i any thing like permanent relief. At length, how
ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one
| of our best physicians, and I am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that I had scarcely used
two boxes when I found that they had restored me
. to perfect health. Since then, various members of
my family have used them with equal success —
! and consequently 1 feel it my duty to apprise you
of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
: certificate, as 1 am anxious to add my' public testi
mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your nn
-1 rivalled medicme. Respectfully yours,
THEODORE JAMES.

tune, however, 1 had in my pocket a broken box of
yourpills—lour of which 1 administere I, with
