Radical Cure ol Henna or Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
store of .Messrs. J. J. Robertson k. Co., forthe
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. 11c has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did net delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the useof these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
i lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee of the Philadelphia Medical hociety on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wearother
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee,”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fol.owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in cur own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the office, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate, from some responsi*
bie person,of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of all sizes, and applicable;
to every variety of reducible rupture,

TO THE FACULTY AND IIEADjToF
FAMILIES.
DR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TO.MATO —a substitute for Calomel, and
docs not belong to the family of quack medicines;
fur the reason that the component parts are made
known to the faculty, or any one else that may
wish to know, by any of the agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx
iously looked for, some one in almost the extreau
North has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting ft
be made from the stalk, a thing not more aosuiu
than for one to offer meal from the com stalk, to
say nothing of the difficulty of raising tiie Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of
which, he holds himself hound, and in honor pledg
ed to prove by their use, that they are all that they
profess to be, and will do for othcis what they
have done for such as mav have u.*ed them; as
.his is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will
doubtless be valuable information to families to
know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hapatine, or active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
system in much better condition than the other
kind; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to children, and
how they then wished for a substitute. It has
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
ascevtaine J that -aey coniauieu alterative and diu
retic properties. The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would be bound to reject the medicine, as they
justly do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the
day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a
miid, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be in
his city. We ali know something aoout inis.

ANTi-BALSAMJC GONORRHIEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days.
f|’HIS incomparable and invaluable remedy so
J Ion? known, and used with such unpanalleled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeais, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that It invariably acts like
a chaim, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable ‘-ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success hich lias attended it through all ot its
trying c cumstances, namely, “five days,’’ —the
same su .ess which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Waeenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an a'most
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, I may say-, religious conlidence on its cura
ble power's.
Belo-w is a copy of tire translation as near as it can
be anglisizcd of the deed given by Wabcnoshe, to
M. Chevcret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture, i
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im- ■
mediate use.

This Medicine,! warrant by tins publicaticn;un

cle of corrosive preparation. It is purely vegata
ble in its essences. Its first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every vestige of inllamation, and then
acts mildly aed copiously as a diuretic; thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the subduction of this loathsome malady—and ev
ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
assertion, that copious diuresis and reduction of in
flation, are the only two things necessary to effect
a sound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humci
alis, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
most loathsome, perplexing, and disagreeable dis
eases, consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and

Those affected are requested to call and try for

desperate cases ol white swelling that can he ima

Dear Sir —My daughter,a girl of lounetn, was
sadly afflicted with the comp aim that physicians
termed a scald head ; and 1 feared, indepe dent of

afflicted part; and 1 thank God that my child is
now entirely recovertd from the disease, and is

- | HESE Pills are no longer among those of doubt
l ful utility. They have passed away fiom the
hundreds that are daily launched upon the tide of
experiment, and now stand before the public as
high in reputation, and as extensively employed in
alfparts of the United States, the Canadas, Texas
Mexico, and the West Indies, as any medicine that
has ever been prepared for the relief of suffering
man. They have been introduced wherever it was
found possible to carry them ; and there are but
few towns that do not contain some remarkable
evidences of their good effects. The certificates
that have been presented to the propiietor exceed
twenty thousand 1 upwards of five hundred of
which are from regular practising physicians, who
are the most competent judges of their merits.
Often have the cures performed by this mcdicin
been the subject of editorial comment, in virion
newspapers and journals; and it may with truth be
asserted, that no medicine of the kin 1 has ever re
ceived testimonials of greater value thin are at
tached to this.
They are ia general use as a family medicine
and there are.thousandsof families who declare they
re never satisfied until they have a supply always
on hand.
They have no rival in curing and preventing
Billious Fevers, Fever and Ague, Dyspepsia, Liver
Complaints, Sick Headache, Jaundice, Asthma,
Dropsy, Rheumatism, Enlargement of the Spleen,
Piles, Choiic, Female Obstructions, Heartburn,
Furred Tongue, Nausea, Distension of the Stomach
and bowels, Incipient Diarrhoea,Flatulence,Habitu
al Costiveness, Loss of Appetite, biolchcdor Sallow
Complexion, and in cases of torpor of the bowels,
where a cathartic or aperient is needed They are
exceedingly mild in their operation, producing
neither nausea, griping nor debilitv.
The following was forwarded to Dr. Peters, by a
highly respectable Planter of Wake County, No
Ca, March 3J, 1838:
Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, By request of your agent,
Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your piPs; and 1 would
add, that you may make use ol them, in connection
with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I
speak of their merits from experience, as I and my
family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three
years ; and so great ai*e the benefits we have receiv
ed from them in general, that 1 would rather pur
chase them alien dollars a box than have my house
without them. I will not enumerate Iheafflictions
they have relieved us of; but I can assure you they
were many, and of very opposite natures, which
has fully proved to me that your medicine is a sim
ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally
tire enemy of every disease. I will mention one
i case. 1 have a sister who had been for a long pe
riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of tire gra\e.
She w'as attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure ; but ail their c fife its to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we all consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good
, fortune, however, as she was in this situation, cx
; pcct ng every day to be her last, your pills were
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their effects that three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than thiee months she was
perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all
who were witness of it, (but more especially the
suffering party,) considered to be the next tiling to
miraculous; and yet i could mention many more
of an equally desperate nature, in pills
were equally successful in rescuing the patients
from the jaws of death. Meed 1 add tiial the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country ? But this 1 presume
you know from the immense quantity you dispose
of. I may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use, I never heard an individual complain
of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Ral
eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen
timents of regard, your ob’t servant.
A. G. BANKS.
To Dr. Peters, —Sir—For upward* of fifteen
| months, 1 have been cruelly afflicted with Fever
and Ague; and during the time could find nothing—
| though 1 had applied to every thing that gave me
any thing like permanent relief. At length, how
ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one
of our best pin sicians, and 1 am most grateful and
i happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used
I two boxes when I found that they had restored me
i to perfect health. Since then, various members of
| my family have used them with equal success —
and consequently 1 feel it my duty to apprise you
of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
; certificate, as I am anxious to add my public testi
mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your un
rivalled medicine. Respectfully yours,
THEODORE JAMES.
