(Europe,] belongs the imperishable honour of adding
a ne w and precious doctrine to the scujffce of medi
cine —a doctrine which, though vehemently opposed
by many of the faculty, (of which he is a valuable
memoer,) he proves to be as well founded in truth
as any doctrine of Holy Writ—a doctrine, upon the
verity of which are suspended the lives'of millions
of our race, and which he boldly challenges his op
posers to refute, viz: Consumption is a{ disease al
ways occasioned by a disordered state hf Vis Vita;
(or Life Principle; of the human body ; (jry often
secretly lurking in the system for years before
there is the least complaint of the Lungs -FT—and
which may be as certainly, though not': so quickly,
cured, as a common co dor a simple headache. An
invaluably precious doctrine this, as i*timparts an
important lesson to the apparently healuhy of both
sexes, teaching them that tills insidious foe may
be an unobserved inmate of their •* cladey houses”
even while they imagine themselves; secure from
its attacks, teaching them that the greitkecret in the
art of presercing health is to pluck disease

A certificate from three members cy the Medical
Profession in Germany, in Europe.
We, the undersigned, practitioneH of medicine
in Germany, are well aware that, by our course,
we may forfeit the friendship of somp of the facul
ty, but not of its benevolent membeiH, who are un
influenced by selfish motives. Though we shall
refrain from an expression of our Opinion, either
of the soundness or unsoundness of | Dr. Goelick’s
new doctrine we are happy to say }hat we deem
his Sanative too valuable not toßbe generally'
known —for what our eyes behold'and our ears
hear, we must believe. A
We nereby sta e, that when Ijy. Louis Often
Goclick first came before the Gordian public, as
the pretended discoverer of a new fi’oc trine and a
new medicine, we held him in v.lj.> highest con
tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be
a base impostor .«i d the prince of cii-scks. But, on
hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it
and for it, we were induced, from midives of curi
osity merely, to make trial of its Reputed virtues
upon a number of our most hopcU patients; and
we now deem it our boundou dutj| (even at the
expense of self-interest' publicly ip acknowledge
its edicacy in curing not only coiij sumption, but
other fearful maladies, which we fikve heretofore
believed to be incurable. Our contempt for the
discoverer of this medicine was at c ace swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at th=;se unexpected
results; and, as amends for our abuse of him, we
do frankly confess to the world, that we believe
him a philanthropist, who does honor to the profes
skn, and to our countiy, which gave? him birth.
The recent adoption of this nuu ciue into some
o our European hospitals, is a *ul|):ient guaranty
that it performs all promises. It jnceded not our
cstimony, for wherever it is used ifjis its own best
wi ness. HERMAN ET.'dUtX EU, m. d.

acquired a jus* popularity, not only by reason of
