The LIFE MEDICINES recommend themselves j in diseases ot every form and description. Their ! first operation is to loosen from the coats of the stomach and bowels, the various impurities and crudiiies eon tantiy settling around them ; and to remove the hardened feces which collect > convohisions of tlie smallest intestines. Other medicines only partially cleanse these, and leave such collected mas-es behind ns to produce habitu al coslivecitas with *ll its train ofevils. or in a sud den diarrhoea, with its eminent dangers. 'J he se cond effect of tiie Life Medicines is to cleanse the kidneys and the bladder, and by this means, the liver and the lungs, the healthful action of which entirely depends upon the regularity ofihe urinary organs. The blood, w hich takes its red color from the agency of tlie liver and the lungs before it passes into the heat, being thus purified by them and nourished by food coming from a clean stom ach, courses freely thiongh the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the banner of health in the blooming cheek. .Moffat’s Vegetable Ijfe Medicines have been thoroughly attested, and pronounced a sovereign remedy for Dyspepsia, Flatulency, Palpitation of the Heart, Djss of Appetite, Heart-bora and Head ache, Restlessness, 111-temper, Anxiety, Languor and Melancholy, Coativeness, Diarrhoea, Cholera, Fevers of all kinds, Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsies of all kind, Gravel, Worms, Asthma and Consump lion, Scurvy, Ulcers, Inveterate Sores, Scorbutic Eruptions and Bad Complexions, Eruptive com plaints, Sallow, Cloudy, and o’her disagreeable Complexions, Salt Rheum, Erysij*elas, Common Colds and influenza and various other complaints which afflict the human frame, in fever and ague, particularly, the Life Medicines have been most eminently successful; so much so that in the Fever and Ague districts, Physicians almost uni versally prescribe them. All that Mr. Moffat requires of his patient is to be particular in taking the Lite Medicines strictly according to the directions. Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg ed to prove by their use, that they are all that they profess to be, and will do for others what they* have done for such as mav have used them ; as Jiis is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will doubtless be valuable information to families to know that the Yellow are just doubly* as valuable as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much of the hapatine, or active principle, and when used as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the system in much better condition than the other kind ; many will recollect with what trembling anxiety calomel has been given to children, and how they* then wished for a substitute. It has long been known that the Tomato contained ca thartic principles, but not until of late was it ascertained that tney contained, alterative and diu retic properties, 'i he Faculty* embrace and use the preparation most cheerfully*, for the reason that they know what it is .Were it a patent nvystery, they would be bound to reject the medicine, as they justly* do the one thousand and one curc-aiis of the day If you wish to cleanse the sy*stem with a mild, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be in Ins city. Its known and valued virtues have already enriched to an almost incredible extent the childr en of this warlike prince, not only by actual sale of the article itself to in dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although free to use it in their respective tribes, which places it in the hands of every Indian who rely with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura ble powers. '1 hoy have passed away from the hundreds that arc daily launched upon the tide of experiment, ami now stand before the public as hi-h in icpntation, and as extensively employed in all parts of the United States, the Canadas, Texas Mexico, and the West Indies, as any medicine that has ever been prepared for the relief of suffering man. They have boon introduced wherever it was found possible to carry them ; and there are but few towns that do not contain some remarkable evidences of their good effects. The certificates that have been presented to the propiietor exceed twenty thousand! upwards of five hundred of which are from regular practising physicians, who arc the most com pc tent judges of their merits. Often have the cures performed by this medicin been the subject of editorial comment, in variou newspapers and journals ; and it may with truth be asserted, that no medicine of the kin 1 has ever re ceived testimonials of greater value thin are at tached to this. They arc in general use as a family medicine and there are, thousands of families who declare they re never satisfied until they have a supply always on hand. They have no rival in curing and preventing Biiiious I evers, fever and Ague, Dyspepsia, Liver Complaints, Sick Headache, Jaundice, Asthma, Dropsy, Rheumatism, Enlargement of the Spleen, Piles, Cholic, Female Obstructions, Heartburn, furred Tongue, Nausea, Distension of theStomaeh and Bowels, Incipient Diarrhoea,Flatulenceff labitu al Costiveness, Loss of Appetite, Blotched or Sallow Complexion, and in cases of torpor of the bowels, where a cathartic or aperient is needed They arc exceedingly mild in their operation, producin'* ■ neither nausea, griping nor debilitv. The following was forwarded to Dr. Peters, by a highly respectable Planter of Wake County, No. Ca.,March 3d, 1838: Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, By requestor your agent, Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the almost miraculous effects of your piPs ; and I would add, Liat you may make use ol them, in connection with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I speak of their merits from experience, as I and my family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three years ; and so great a*c the benefits w e have receiv ed from them in general, that 1 would rather pur chase them at ten dollars a box than have my house without them. I will not enumerate the afflictions : they have relieved us of ; but I can assure you they were many’, and of very' opposite natures, which j has fully proved to rnc that your medicine is a sim ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally the enemy of every disease. I will mention one ca'-e. I have a sister who had been for a long pe riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and j was brought by it to the very verge of the grave. ; She was attended by the most eminent physicians j that money could procure ; but all their efforts to restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we all consid ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good fortune, however, as she was in this pectmg every day to be her last, your pills were introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal pable were their effects that three doses visibly re lieved her, and in less than three months she was perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all who were witness of it, (butmore especially the ; suffering party.) considered to be the next thing to miraculous; and yet I could mention many more of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills were equally successful in rescuing the* patients from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu- I larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in this section of the country ? But this 1 presume you know from the immense quantity you dispose of I may'mention, however, that notwithstanding its general use, I never heard an individual complain of its effects. My residence is I2miles from i.al eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. 1 am, with sen timents of regard, your ob’t servant. A. G. BANKS. To Dr. Peters, —Sir—For upwards of fifteen months, I have been cruelly afflicted with Fever and Ague; and during the time could find nothing — though 1 had applied to every tiling that gave me | any thing like permanent relief. At length, how ever, your pills were recommended to me, hy one of our best physicians, and 1 am most grateful and happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used two boxes when I found that they' had restored me j to perfect health. Since then, various members of : my family have used them with equal success— | and consequently I feel it my duty to apprise you of the fact, and to request of you to publish this certificate, as 1 am anxious to add my public testi mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your im- J rivalled medicine. .Respectfully yours, THEODORE JAMES.
