LOUIS OFFON GOELICKE,
of Germany,
The Greatest of. Human Benefactors
Citizens of North and South America,
To Louis Os it on Goelicke, M. D., of Germany,
[Europe,] belongs the imperishable honor of adding
u new and precious doctrine to the science of medi
cine —a doctrine which, though vehemently opposed
py many of tlie faculty, (ol which lie is a valuaolc
member,) he proves to be as well founded in tmtli
any doctrine of Holy Writ—a doctrine, upon the
verity of which are suspended the lives ot millions
of our race, and which lie boldly challenges his op
posers to refute, viz: Consumption is a disease al
ways occasioned by a disordered state ot \ is X ifie
(or Life Principle) of the human body: (ff often
secretly lurking in the system for years before
the reds the least complaint of the Lungs .TJ) —and
which may be as certainly, though not so quickly,
cured, as a common cold or a simple headache. An
invaluably precious doctrine this, as it imparts an
important lesson to the apparently healthy of both
sexes, teaching them that this insidious foe may
be an unobserved inmate ot their “ clayey houses
even while they imagine themselves secure from
its attacks, teaching them that the great secret in the
ait of preserving health is to pluck out the disease
when in the blade, and not wait, till the fullgtoxin
ear.
This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled
to voui unfeigned gratitude, and the gratitude ol a
world, for the invention of his matchless Sanative,
—whose healing hat may justly claim for it such a
title, since it has so signally triumphed ovei oui

will have abundant cause to bless the beneficent
band of a kind Providence, —a medicine whose
wondrous virtues have been so glowingly pouitiay -

of the soundness or unsoundness of Dr. Gochck s

TO THE FACULTY AND HEADS OF
FAMILIES.
DR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TOMATO —a substitute for Calomel, and
does not belong to the family of quack medicines;
for the reason that the component parts are made
known to the faculty, or any one else that may
wish to know, by any- of the agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx
iously looked for, some one in almost the extreme
J North has advertised a Tomato Pill, purpoitingtc
j be made from the stalk, a thing not more aosuu»
’ than for one to offer meal from the corn stalk, to
I say-nothing of the dilliculty of raising the Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits ol
j which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg-
J ed to prove by their use, that they- are all that they
profess to be, and will do for others what they
r have done for such as mav have u-ed them ; as
.his is a vegetable of great use, and value, it Will
doubtless be valuable information to families to
, know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hapatine, oi active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable w ill be found to keep the
system in much better condition than the other
kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
’ anxiety- calomel has been given to children, and
how they then wished for a substitute. It lias
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
’ thartic principles, but not until of late was it
ascertainel that ..icy contained alterative and diu
i retie properties. The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they- know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would be bound to reject the medicine,as they
justly do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the
’ day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a
mild, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be ir.
lus’city. We ali know something aoout mis.

Radical Cure o 1 Tieniiaoc Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
FSMIE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
J store of .Messrs. J. J. Robertson & Co., for the
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy- forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly- distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
’ others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
’ lieved. The following is the language ol the com
mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Bocicty on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
’ the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case ot Hernia observed by- the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
1 arc usually ventured upon by those who wearother
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
! other apparatus known to the committee.”
’ “ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The following is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in cur own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
1 Persons from a distance can have the instruments
I applied, upon application at the office, and all ne
i cessary information given to enable them to adjus
i it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate, from someresponsi”
ble person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of all sizes, and applicable
to every variety of reducible rupture.

ANTi-BALSAMJC GONORRIREAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days.
rjmilS incomparable and invaluable remedy-so
JL long known, and used with such unparralleled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 ycais, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human sy stem is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable‘-ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success 1 rich has attended it through all of its
trying c cumstauces, namely-, “five days,”—the
same su cess which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wabekothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others w-as pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshc prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an a'inost
incredible extent tiie children of this warlike prince,
not only by- actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
I at enormous prices to the Chief of every- tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to tiie
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, I may-say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers.
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisizcd of the deed given by- Wabenoshe, to
M.Chcveret, when be purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory- process of manufacture.
Few- white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.
TRANSLATION.
“I, Wabenoshe, Chief of the nations Ottowaand
Chippewa, for the love and good feeling which I
have for my white friend M. Chcveret, (for he has
done many- good things for me and my people,) I
give to him my- greatest cure for the bad sickness
which my- children have had sent among them as
a punishment by- the Great Spirit, and hope that in
his hands it may do much good, and make him very
rich.”

This Medicine,! warrrnt by this publication,un
der a penalty of $5,000, not to contain one parti
cle of corrosive preparation. It is purely- regula
ble in its essences. Its first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every vestige of inflamation, and then
acts mildly and copiously as a diuretic ; thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the subduction of this loathsome malady —and ev
ery regular graduate in medicine, xvill sustain the
assertion, that copious diuresis and reduction of in
flation, are the only-two things necessary- to effect
a sound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree -
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humoi
alis, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
most loathsome, perplexing, and disagreeable dis
eases, consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and
treatment of Gonorrhoea.
Those affected are requested to call and try foi
themselves. If the prescriptions are well follow
ed and fail to cure, the money will iu every case be
returned.

VOIs AND SICK HEAD ACHE, has the satis
faction to make known, that he has a remedy which

ncni > this distressing complaint. There are many
lannlies w ho have considered Sick Headache a con
stitutional incurable tamiiy complaint' Dr. S. as
sures them that they are mistaken, and labouring
under distress which inoy might not only alleviate
hut actuahy eradicated hy the use if Ids remedy.
It is the result of scientific research, and is entirely
of a diflcrcnt character from advertised patent medi

HEADACHE, SICK OR NERVOUS.
The extraordinary reputation that Dr. Spohn’s
remedy for this distressing compaint is every day
gaining is certainly a matter of much astonishment,
i hat so nvich suiiering should have existed lor ages
without any discovery ol an effectual preventive, or
cure, is truly a subject of much regret hut Dr. S.
now assures the public that such a remedy has been
invented as will convince the most credulous. Tho
principles on vvlnch it acts are simple mul plain. It is
an at milled fact that this complaint, whether called
b>ick Headache, or Nervous Headache, arises prim
arily from the stomach—those who think they have
the Nervous Headache may rest assured that this
organ, the stomach, is the first cause, that lh“sys
tem has become vitiated or debilitated, llnough the
stomach, and that only through the same channel
must they expect s restoration ol the natural and
healthy functions of the sy stem. Tins object, Dr.
Spohn s remedy is eniincmly calculated to attain.
The truth of this position cannot he controverted,
and the sooner sufferers with ihe headache become
convinced of it, the sooner will their suffering end
in restoration ol health, Dr. Spohn pledges his
professional repuwftion on this fact. The remedy
may be had of apothecaries generally throughout
the Untied States.
