I below SIOO shall be baniehed from every state i die Union* How many thousands and hundrec 0 f thousands of honest, industrious men and the families, have been utterly ruined by the fati operation of these two extremes of “currenc experiments!” And how mafiy more are yet ( be Drought to beggary, and all its cruel menu tortures, Heaven only knotys. S-hall we not, on and all, put on the whole ,'politcal armor, an work out a nation’s deliverance I —Buffalo Con Adv, r From the New Orleans Bee. Yucatan. Horrid Massacre.—The schooner Atrevida arrived yesterday from Campeachy, which piao ahe left on the 13th inst. Perfect tranquility reigned in the city at th< departure of this vessel. A Texian brig am schooner were at anchor in the harbor. We hav< already alluded to the capture of Tabasco by th< Federalists. It seems from all that we have beer able to ascertain from the captain of the Atrevida that a part of the Centralist army, consisting ol . two hundred men, who had been obliged to leave ' the city, had afterwards received reinforcements. (and had marched towards Tabasco, which they had succeeded in recapturing and taking advan tage of the feebleness of their enemis, who were suffering from sickness, had been guilty of cru elties of the most revolting nature. Nothing was spared; all the inhabitants who pronounced • themselves in favor of the Federalists were mas sacred without distinction and their property pil laged and devastated. Troubles in Tallahassee. The following account of the late disturbances in Tallahassee, is the most condensed statement we have seen and gives according to what we have heard a fair sketch of the affair. There has recently been considerable excite ment at Tallahsssee, Florida, growrng out of the following circumstances. It appears that the Van Buren Convention held at Ocklockney, in the beginning of Augus’t, thought proper to resolve that the Whigs of Florida were in league with the Northern Abo litionists, at which the party thus slandered were justly indignant. The resolution was published in the Floridian, and the writer’s name being de manded by some of the aggrieved party was after much shuffling, discovered by the Edi tor of that paper. Pending the discussion. Gov. Raid called into Tallahassee some military com panics in the service of the United States, on the frontier. The committee of citizens remonstra i ted with the Governor on this course, declaring I that there was no danger of a breach of peace, * and requesting that the troops might be with drawn. They represented that the Territorial Government had no right to call these troops from the defence qf the frontier, as the citizen soldiery ofthecity was amply sufficient to quell all troubte if the Mayor had seen any resistance to make the militia necessary. An unsatisfactory answer was returned by the Governor, and this fact becoming known, the people began to assemble in considerable force ; the drums were beat'; arms collected; artillery brought out and charged, and things began to look serious. Remonstrance was, however, again tried with the Gove/nor by the citizens be fore proceeding to the last resort. After a pro tracted negotiation he consented to send the troops away, and on their departure the excite ment subsided. Another Swabtwodter.—lt is stated in one of the St. Louis papers that Mr. Ewing, the Mar shal of Mississippi, has gone up the Ohio, on his way to Europe, a reputed defaulter to the amount of half a million of dollars. Steam Fire Engine.—They are about build ing a fire engine in New York to go by steeam. It is to have powei to throw water to the top of the highest buildings in such quantities as imma diatoly to quench a fire. More Bank Defaulters.—The Louisville Journal of the 15th instant says : “ The public mind in this city has been painful ■ ly excited for a day or two by rumors in regard to some of the inferior officers in the Bank of Ken tucky. We learn from the proper quarter that er rors committed from time to time during the last [ trill ana winter, amounting to about twenty-live hundred dollars, have been defected in the teller’s blotter. The general ledger clerk is involved with the teller in the suspicion touching this apparent defalcation. We have thought it proper to publish this statement, in order to put a stop to the vague and exaggerated rumors afloat in regard to the af fair.” ? Lost—Near Rockett’s % seaman’s shirt, contain ing ail the owner’s wearing apparel, &c., viz: two pounds of tobacco, a foretopsaii yard, two five cent pieces, a caboose house, a pair of duck trowsers, a copper fastened schooner, Polly, his wife, a tar paulin, ten yams, each two miles long, two glasses of i urn toddy, and an infant sea serpent. Inquire on board the schooner Haul-taut. That’s one of Col. Streeter’s. He’ll be the death of us yet. — Picayune. Consignees per South Carolina Rail Road, Hamburg, August 27, 1840.
