1! m y past misfortunes, a £lO note of the Bank
of England, which was sent to me in two halves,
j );l s been stolen by some person applying in my
name at the Post Olfice, and I am deprived of
t t)js last resource.
God, in his mercy, sent me to your house,
where I found friends; and, whatever may be
n) y future fate, I shall say God’s will be done ;
arid may He pour his blessing on yourself and
family
“ I should have told you mv father died of a
broken heart in 1817, and my dear mother in
1821, without my receiving their blessing.
“Now allow me to express my gralitutude for
your kindness ; and, in the hope that you will
excuse my English style of writing,
•• I remain with respect,
“ Your most devoted and ob’t serv’t,

Miss Fly, of Massachusetts, has recovered $365
of Mr. Frost, for a breach of marriage promise,
he courted her one year, and the jury allowed
her one dollar per day for the time. — Philadel
phia Chronicle.
1 The jury were a graceless set of unreasonable
blockheads. How can Frost and a Fly exist
together! It was certainly rather cool treatment
hr Frost to fly a Fly, but why didn’t Fly fly
lirst, as was natural 1 Fly should fly before
frost. Fly wasn’t fly. —Picayune
Long Courtship.—ln the trial of a case of
bdach of the marriage promise, which recently
look place in Dublin, the Judge charged the jury
in an exceedingly able and feeling address, in the
course of which he remafked that he hardly ever
knew a long courtship to turn out well, and that
whatever the lady might do to remain constant,
the gentlemen seldom did. The jury retired, and
in about half an hour returned with a verdict for
the plaintiff— £1,200 damages and costs.
Foot Races.—We perceive that the Loco
Focos in different parts of the country, are celebra
ting the passage of the leg Treasury bill. In
some places they celebrate it by illuminations, in
others be the discharge of guns, in others by pro
cessions, and in others by shows of various des
criptions. In our •pinion, the most appropriate
mode of celebrating it would be by foot-race. —

At the residence -df his step father, Mr. Robert

the iGth instant, Mr. James Hamilton Ronald
sox, a merchant of HayneviUe, Houston county. — |
Mr. Ronaldson had been thrown from his horse
three months ago, and had been complaining pre
vious to his leaving Houston, for his mother’s re
sidence, where he was attacked with fever, which
soon yielded to a course of medicine; and while his
fond and doating mother and relations were buoyed
up with a prospect of a speedy recovery, a relapse
took place, which resulted in inflammation of the
biain.
Thus was cutoff, in the prime of life, an amia
ble and affectionate son and brother. Obliging and
conciliating as a neighbor and friend, mild and be
nevolent in alibis dispositions, and beloved by all
who knew him.
“Art is long, and time is fleeting.
And our hearts though stout and brave.
Still like muffled drums are beating,
Funeral marches to the grave.”
Died on Monday morning, the 25th instant, Mrs.
Nancy A. Rhome, aged 29 years and 9 months,
consort of Mr. P. G. Rhome, who at this time were
residents of the county of Warren, but formerly
from tue State of New York.
Mrs. Rhome was cailed from her sphere of ac
tion, before she had hardly arrived in e prime of
life. Her loss will be long lamented by those who
had become acquainted with her in the private
walks of life. She v r as]meek and lowly when
among her friends, amiable and prudent in the reg

sive to the superior will of her husband. She has
left a husband and four small children lomouinthe
loss of a dutiful wife, and a fond and affectionate
mother, besides numerous relatives and friends, in
the State from whence she came.
