Wc the undersigned, practitioners of medicine in Germany, are well aware that, by our course, . we may forfeit the friendship of some ol the facul ty, but not of its benevolent members, who arc un influenced by selfish motives. Though wc shall refrain from an expression of our opinion, either of the soundness or unsoundness of Or. Goelick’s new doctiine. we are happy to say that we deem his Sanative too valuable not to be generally known —for what our eyes behold and our ears hear, we must believe. We Hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Often i Goelick first came before the German public, as the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a new medicine, we held him in the highest con tempt, believing and openly pronoun' ing him to be a base impostor ai d the prince of quacks. l>ut. on hearing so much said about the Sana! ye, against it and lor it, wc were induced, from motives of cmi- j •site merely, to make trial ol its icputcd \iitucs | upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and j we now deem it our bounder, duty (even al the ©expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge | it« efficacy in curing not only consumption, but j other fearful maladies, which we have heretofore j believed to be incurable. Our contempt for the | discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed I up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected , results; and, as amends for our abuse ot him, wc | do frankly confess to the world, iliac we believe j him a philanthropist, who docs honor to the proles- j sicii, and to our country, which ga\ e him bn th. The recent adoption of this medicine into some 0 our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty that it performs all promises.
