We hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Offon Goelick first came before the German pu Aic, as the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a new medicine, we held him in the highest con tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him cO be a base impostor .v d the prince of quacks. But, on hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it au.l tor it, we were induced, from motives of cuii ositj" merely, to make trial ol its reputed virtues upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge its eiticacy in caring not only consumption, but other fearful maladies, which we have heretofore | believed to be incurable. Our contempt lor the ( discoverer of this medicine was at once sw. slowed | up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected , results; and, as amends tor our abuse oi him, we j do frank I v confess to the world, that we believe ■ him a philanthropist, who docs honor to the piuies sicu, and to our countiy, which gave him b.’; ,h. He lias now used them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid, he could name several persons who have been radi cally cured, of tiiis truly distressing and dangerous affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many others who are in a fairway of being entirely re lieved. The following is the language of the com mittee oi the Philadelphia Medical Society on the Radical Cure of Hernia. “ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected the permanent and accurate retention of the in testines in every case of Hernia observed by the committee, without material inconvenience to the patient, and often under trials more severe than are usually ventured upon by those who wearother trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any other apparatus known to the committee.” “ The committee are induced by the foregoing conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of the profession, as the best known means of me chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the highest chances of radical cure.” The foLovving is from the Southern Medical and Southern Journal, published in cur own city. “AH must admit of the radical cure of hernia, and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best yet invented to effect the object.” Persons from a distance cun have the instruments applied, upon application at the o.iice, and all ne cessary information given to enable them to adjus it themselves. In many hun dred certified cases which has been made public, and in almost ever) species of disease to which the human frame is liable, the happy effects of MOFFAT’S LIFE PILLS AND PHENIX BIT TERS have been gratefully and publicly ac knowledged by the persons banefutted, and who were previously unacquainted with the beautifully philosophical principles upon which they are compoun Jed, and upon which they ejnsequently act. The LIFE MEDICINES recommend themselves in diseases ol every lorm and description.. Their first operation is to loosen from the coats ol the stomach and bowels, the various impurities and crudities eon tantly settling around them ; and to remove the hardened faeces which collect convolusions of the smallest intestines. Other m dicines only partially cleanse these, and leave such collected masses behind as to produce habitu al costivemss with til its train ofevils. or in a sud den diairhcp.a, with its eminent hangers. This tact is well known to a.l regular anatomists, who ex amine the human bowels after death ; and hence the prejudice oi those well informed men against quack meitic mes—or medicines prepared and her laded to the public bv ignorant p< rsons. ’J he se cond effect of the Life Medicines is to cleanse the kidneys and the bladder, and by this means, the liver and the lungs, the healthful action of which entirely depends upon the regularity oft he urinary organs. The blood, which takes its red color from the agency of the liver and the lungs before it passes into the heat, being thus purified by them and nourished by food coming from a clean stom ach, courses freely ih.ough the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly’ mounts the banner of health in the blooming cheek. Moffat’s Vegetable Life Medicine j have been thoroughly attested, and pronounced a sovereign remedy for 1 dyspepsia, Flatulency, Palpitation of the Heart, Loss of Appetite, ileart-bnra and Head ache, Restlessness, lil-leinper. In fever and ague, particularly, the Life Medicines have been mosteininenlly successful ; so much so that in the Fever and Ague districts, Physicians almost uni versally prescribe them. All thai Mr. Moffat requires of his patient is to be particular in taking the Life Medicines strictly according to the directions, it is not by a news paper notice, or any thirg that he himself may say in their lavor, that ha hopes to gain credit.
