FMHE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug ■ store of Messrs. J. J. Robertson &Co., for the treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these ustly celebrated instruments. He has now 7 used them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid, he could name several persons who have been radi cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many others who are in a fair w 7 ay of being entirely re lieved. The following is the language of the com mittee of the Philadelphia Medical Society on the Radical Cure of Hernia. “ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected the permanent and accurate retention of the in testines in every case of Hernia observed by the committee, without material inconvenience to the patient, and often under trials more severe than are usually ventured upon by those who wearother trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any othei "apparatus known to the committee.” “ The committee are induced by the foregoing conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of the profession, as the best know n means of me chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the highest chances of radical cure.” The following is from the Southern Medical and Southern Journal, published in our own city. “ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia, and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best yet invented to effect the object.” Persons from a distance can have the instruments applied, upon application at the office, and all ne cessary information given to enable them to adjus it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under this artlicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous ly upon presenting a certilicate, from someresponsi' ble person, of their pecuniary disability. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF 1 f TOMATO —a substitute for Calomel, and does not belong to the family of quack medicines; for the reason that the component parts are made known to the faculty, or any one else that may wish to know, by any of the agents keeping them for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx iously looked lor, some one in almost the extreme North has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting t(. be made from the stalk, a thing not more aosuiu than for one to offer meal from the corn stalk, to say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato so far North. Dr, Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg ed to prove by their use, that they are all that they profess to be, and will do for otlieis what they have dune for such as raav have used them; as .his is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will doubtless be valuable information to families to know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much of the hapatine, or active principle, and when used as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the system in much better condition than the other kind ; many will recollect with what trembling anxiety calomel has been given to children, and how they their wished for a substitute. It has long been known that the Tomato contained ca thartic principles, but not until of late was it ascertaineJ that .ney contaiueu alterative and diu retic properties. The Faculty embrace and use tire preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that they know what it is Were it a patent mystery, they would be bound to reject the medicine, as they justly _do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a mild, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be in lus’city. The formula or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue and hazard by M. Its known and valued virtues have already enriched to an almost incredible extent the children of this warlike prince, not only by actual sale of the article itself to in dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although free to use it in their respective tribes, which places it in the hands of every Indian xvho rely with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura ble powers Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can be auglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to M. In many hun dred certified cases which has been made public, and in almost every species of disease to which lho human frame is liable, the happy effects of MOFFAT’S LIFE PILLS AND FHENIX BIT TERS have been gratefully and publicly ac knowledged by the persons benefiilted, and who were previously unacquainted with the beau'ihilly philosophical principles upon which they are corapounled, and upon which they ejiisequeniiy act. The LIFE MEDICINES recommend themselves in diseases iof every form and description. Their first operation is to loosen from the coals ol the stomach and bowels, the various impurities and crudities eon tantly settling around them ; ana to remove the hardened faeces which collect convolustoris of the smallest intestines. Other medicines only partially cleanse these, and leave such collected masses behind as to produce habitu al costiveness with til its train ofevils. or in a sud den diarrhoea, with its eminent dangers. This fact is well known to ail regular anatomists, who ex amine the human bowels after death ; and hence the prejudice of those well informed men against quack medicines—or medicines prepared and her laded lo the public bv ignorant pt rsons. 'J he se cond effect of the Life Medicines is to cleanse tho kidneys and the bladder, and by this means, the liver and the lungs, the healthful action of which entirely depends upon the regularity ol the urinary organs. The blood, which lakes its red color from the agency of the liver and the lungs before it passes into the liea t, being thus purified by them and nourished by food coming from a clean stom ach, courses Ireely th.ough the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the banner of health in the blooming cheek. Moffat’s i Vegetable Life Medicines have been thoroughly attested, and pronounced a sovereign remedy for Dyspepsia, Flatulency, Palpitation of the Heart, Loss ol Appetite, Heart-burn and Head ache, Bcstlessness, 111-temper, Anxiety, Languor ami Melancholy, Cosliveness, Diarrhoea, Cholera, Fevers of all kinds, Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsies of all kind, Gravel, Worms, Asthma and Cons inn p tion. Scurvy, Ulcers, Inveterate Sores, Scorbutic Eruptions and Bad Complexions, Eruptive com plaints, Sallow, Cloudy, and other disagreeable Complexions, Salt Rheum, Erysipelas* Common Colds and influenza and various other complaints which afflict the huma - frame, la fever and ague, particularly, the Life Medicines have been mosterainemly successful; so much so that in the Fever and Ague districts, Physicians almost uni versally prescribe thorn. All that Mr. Moffat requires of his patient is to be particular in taking the Life Medicines strictly according to the directions. It is not by a news paper notice, or any thipg that he himself may say in tlietrlavor, that he hopes to gain credit, it is alone by the result of a fair trial. Thus, all nostrums adver tised for barrenness or the cure of impotency, but Dr. Magnin’s, are mere catchpenny humbugs, which would never have been thought of out lor the appearance and great celebrity of the LUCINA CORDIAL As no counterfeit of Ihe name is at present in circulation, it may in general be a suffi cient caution for tho purchaser to ask for the Luciua Cordial, hut as further assurance, it would he as well to note t tat its name, LucinaCordial,or Elixir of Love, is stamped in the glass of each bottle— l he combined arms of France and the United States are on the outward envelope—that a FJeur de Lis is printed on the accompanying directions, and beautifully embossed on the show-bills hanging in the stores of those who have the genuine article for sale. The celebrity of the Lucina Cordial being such as it is, it is scarcely necessary to add that it is the only efficient remedy for barrenness, and the resto ration of decayed virile powers ever known ; and that in the cure of Fluor Albus, Gleet, obstructed, difficult or painful Menstruation, the incontinence of the urine, or the involuntary discharge thereof, Us superiority over every other medicine is not on ly decided, but unquestionable.
