This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled to youi unfeigned gratitude, and the gratitude of a world, for the invention of his iwtchless Sanative, —whose healing hat may justly biaim for it such a title, since it hate so signally triumphed over our great common enemy, j J* Consumption, both in the first and last stages,—a medicine which has thoroughly filled tiie vacuum in the Materia Mcdica, and thereby proved itself the fff Conqueror of Phy tic tansjff} —a medicine, for which all mankind will have abundant cause to bless the beneficent hand of a kind Providence, —a medicine whose wondrous virtues have been so glowingly pour Hay ed even by srme ot our clergy, in their pastoral visits to tee sick chamber ; by which means they often become the happy instrirnentsofchangingde sponding into hope, sickness into health, and sad of friends into joyfulncss tj Q Q Q 3 GOELICKE"S MATCHLESS SANATIVE, A medicine of more value to man than the vast mines of Austria, or even the united treasures of our —a medicine, which is obtained equally froin’the vegatable, animal and mineral tungdoms, and thus possesses a three-fold power,—a medicine, which, tbougu designed as a remedy for consump tion solely, is possessed of a mysterious influence over many diseases ol the human system, a medi cine, which begin>to be valuedby physicians, who are daily witnessing its astonishing cures of many whom they had resigned to the grasp of the Insa tiable Grave. We, the undersigned, practitioners of medicine la Germany, are well aware that, by our course, we may forfeit the friendship of some of the facul ty,but not of its benevolent members, who are un influenced by’ selfish motives, i hough vve shall refrain from an expression of o i.r opinion, either of the soundness or unsoundness;of Dr. Goelick s new doctrine w T e are happy to ss:y that we deem his Sanative too valuable not to be generally known —for what our eyes behold and our ears hear, we must believe. W c hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Offen ; Goelick lirst came before the German public, as j t,.e pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a new medicine, we held him in the highest con tempt relieving and openly pronouncing him to be a uase impostor a: d the prince of'quacks. But, on hearing so much saia about the Sanative, against it ial for it, we were induced, from; motives of cuvi ositr merelv, to make trial ot Hs reputed viitucs upon a number of our most hope joss patients; and we now deem it our bounJen ditty (even at the expense of self-interest; public!.; to acknowledge ; its efficacy in curing not only Consumption, but other fearful maladies, which w&have heretofore j believe! to be incuraule. Our .j-ontempt for the discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed up in our utter astonishment at Shese unexpected resuits; and, as amends for our #,buse of him, we do fraaklv confess to the world,, that we believe him a philanthropist, who does hep or to the profes sicn, and to our countiy, which gave him birth. The recent adoption of this medicine into some i 0 our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty that it performs all promises, it needed not aur estimoay, for wherever it is usecl tis its own best, w\ ne-s-s HERMAN L1 A;IJLLKR, m. d. The following is the language of the com mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the Radical Cure of Hernia. “ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected the permanent and accurate retention of the in testines in every case of Hernia observed by the commit:ee, without material inconvenience to the patient, and often under trials more severe than are usually ventured upon by those who wcarotliec trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any other apparatus known to the committee.” “ The committee are induced by the foregoing conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of the profession, as the best known means of me chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the highest chances of radical cure.” The loLowing is from the Southern Medical aud Southern Journal, published in our own city. “ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia, and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best yet invented to effect the object.” Persons from a distance can have the instruments applied, upon application atthe oiiice, and all ne cessary information given to enable them to adjus it themselves.
