[Translated from the German.]
LOUIS OFFON GOELICKE,
of Germany,
The Greatest of Human Benefactors
Citizens of North and South America,
To Louis Offon Goelicke, M. D., of Germany,
[Europe,] belongs the imperishable honor ol adding
a new and precious doctrine to the science ot medi
cine —-a doctrine which, though vehemently opposed
J, y many ot the faculty, (of Which he is a valuable
tnembei,) he proves to be as well founded in truth
as any doctrine of Holy Writ —a doctrine, upon the
verity of which are suspended the Jives ol millions
of our race, and which lie boldly challenges his op
posers to refute, viz: Consumption is a disease al
ways occasioned by a disordered state of V is V it«e
(or Life Principle ) of the human body: (fj- often
secretly lurking in the system for years before
here is the least complaint of the Lungs Jffj —and
which may be as certainly, though not so quickly,
cured, as a common co dor a simple headache. An
invaluably precious doctrine this, as i f imparts an
important lesson to the apparently healthy of both
sexes, teaching them tiiat this insidious foe may
be an unobserved inmate of their “ clayey houses”
even while they imagine themselves secure irom
ts attacks, teaching them that the great secret in the
ait of preserving hetllh is to pluck, out the disease
when in the blade , and not wait till the f nilgi own
ear.
This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled
to voui unfeigned gratitude, and the gratitude ol a
world, for tub invention of his matchless Sanative,
—whose healing hat may justly claim for it such a
title, since it has so signally triumphed over our
great common enemy, fj Consumption, Loth in
the first and last stages, —a medicine which lias
thoroughly filled the vacuum in the Materia .Medica,
and thereby proved itseil the jj' Conqueror of Phy
sic iari' ffZ —a medicine, so. which all mankind
will have abundant cause to bless the beneficent
hand of a kind Providence, —a medicine whose
wondrous virtues have been so glowingly pourt ray
ed even by srme of our clergy, in their pastoral
visits to tee sick chamber ; by which means they
often become the happy instruments of changiugde
spouding into hope, sickness into health, and sad
of friends into joyfulness
03Q § §
GOELICKE'S MATCHLESS SANATIVE,
A medicine of more value to man than the vast
mines of Austria, or even the united treasures of
our globe, —a medicine, which is obtained equally
irom°the vegatable, animal and mineral kingdoms,
and thus possesses a three-fold power,—a medicine,
which, thougn designed as a remedy for consump
tion solely, is possessed ot a mysterious influence
over many diseases of the human system,—a medi
cine, which beginsto be valued by physicians, who
are daily witnessing its astonishing cures ol many
whom they had resigned to the grasp of the Insa
tiable Grave.
DOSE of the Sanative, for adults, one drop; for
children, a half-drop; and for inlants, a quarter
drop; the directions explaining the manner of ta
king a half or a quarter drop.

A certificate from three members of the Medical j
Profession m Germany, in Europe.
We, the undersigned, practitioners ol medicine j
in Germany, are w T cll aware that, by our course,
we may forfeit the friendship of some of the facul
ty, but not of its benevolent members, who are un
influenced by se fish motives, though we shall
refrain fiom an expression of our opinion, either
of the soundness or unsoundness of Ur. Goelick’s
new doctrine, we are happy to say that we deem
his Sanative too valuable not to be generally
known —for what our eyes behold and oui ears
hear, we must believe.
We nereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Offon
Goelick first came before the German public, as
the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a
new medicine, we held him in the highest con
tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be
a base impostor d the prince oi quacks. But, on
hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it
a 1 tor it, we were Induced, from motives of curi
air merely, to make trial of its reputed virtues
upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and
we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the
expense ol self-interest publicly to acknowledge
its etlicacy in curing not only consumption, but
other fearful maladies, winch vve have heretofore
believed to be incurable. Our contempt for the
discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected
results; and, as amends for our abuse of him, we
do frankly confess to the world, that we believe
him a philanthropist, who does honor to the profes
sion, and to our countiy, which gave him birth.
The recent adoption of this medicine into some
0 our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty
that it verfoims ail promises. It needed not our
cstiinouy, for wherever it is used it is its own best

Radical Cure oi Hernia or Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s improved surgeons 7 Trusses.
rgHiE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
j store of Messrs. J. J. Robertson NCo., for the
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
u-Uly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, oi this truly distressing and dangerous
a dec lion, by the use ol these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical ( ure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of ihe in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
arc usually ventured upon by those who wear-other
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong ter ms the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
Tire fol.owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in cur own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the office, and ail ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly- upon presenting a certificate, from some response
b!e person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of all sizes, and applicable
to every variety or rcducibi* rupture,

This prize • btains its own name from the certain
sufcoes* hich has attended it through all of its
c cumstances, namely, “five days,” —the
same su cess which followed it in a Northern lati

he, with others was pursmngthe lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
\V abenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of bis receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
i places it in the hands of every- Indian who rely
with, 1 may say, religious confidence on its cura

Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshc, to
M. Uheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
| the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
