[Translated from the German.]
LOUIS OFFON GOELICKE,
of Germany,
The Greatest of Human Benefactors
Citizens of North and South America,
To Louis Offon Goelicke, M. D., of Germany,
r Europe,! belongs the imperishable honor of adding
a new and precious doctrine to the science of medi
ciae — a doctrine which, though vehemently opposed
oy many of the faculty, (of which he is a valuable
member,) he proves to be s well founded in truth
as any doctrine of Holy Writ—a doctrine, upon the
verity of which are suspended the lives of millions
ot our race, and which he boldly challenges his op
posers to refute, viz: Consumption is a disease al
ways occasioned by a disordered state of Vis Vitae
(or*Life Principle) of the human body: QQ* often
secretly lurking in the system for years before
here is the least complaint of the Lungs JfJj—sud
which may be as certainly, though not so quickly,
eur«*d, as a commonco.d ora simple headache. An
invaluably precious doctrine this, as R imparts an
important lesson to the apparently healthy of both
sexes, teaching them that this insidious foe may
be an unobserved inmale of their “ clayey houses”
even while they imagine themselves secure from
ts attacks, teaching them that the great secret in the
ait of preserving health is to pluck, out the disease
men in the blade, and not wait till the full grown
'This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled
to youi unfeigned gratitude, and the gratitude of a
world, for the invention of his matchless Sanative,
—whose healing hat may justly claim foi it such a
title, since it has so signally triumphed over our
irreat common enemy, Consumption, both rn
the first and last stages,—a medicine which has
thoroughly tilled the vacuum in the Materia Medic*,
and thereby proved itself the Jj” Conqueror of Phy
tic iansf^y- a medicine, foi which all mankind
will have abundant cause to bless the beneficent
hand of a kind Providence,—a medicine who»e
wondrous virtues have been so glowingly pourtray
ed even by sime of our clergy, in their pastoral
visits to tee sick chamber ; by which means they
often become the happy instruments of changing de
sponding into hope, sickness into health, and sad
of friends into joyfulness
nqo § 9
GOELICKE"S MATCHLESS SANATIVE,
A medicine of more vame to man than the vast
mines of Austria, or even the united treasures of
our -lobe,—a medicine, which is obtained equally
from the vegatable, animal and mineral kingdoms,
and thus possesses a three-fold power,—a medicine,
which, tiiouga designed a» a remedy toi consump
tion solely is possessed of a mysterious influe. ce
over many diseases of the human system,—a medi
cine which begins to be valued by physicians, who
are daily witnessing its astonishing cures oi many
whom they had lesigned to the grasp of the insa
tiable Grave. .

A certificate from three members of the Medical
Profession in Germany, in Europe.
We the undersigned, practitioners of medicine
lu Gennanv, are well aware that, by our course,
we may forfeit the friendship of some of the tacul
ty but not of its benevolent members, who are un
influenced by seitish motives. Though we shall
refrain Horn an expression of our opinion, either
of the soundness or unsouudness of Dr. uoeiick s
new doctrine we are happy to say that we deem
his Sanative too valuable not to be generally
known —foi what our eyes behold and our ears
hear, we must believe. .
We Hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Often
Goolick first came before the German public, as
the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine ami a
new medicine, we held him in the highest con
tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be
a base impostor d the prince of quacks. But, on
hearing so much said a;>out the Sanative, against it
ud for it, we were induced, from motives of em
ail merely, to make trial of its reputed virtues
upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and
we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the
expense of self-interest publicly to acknowledge
its efficacy in curing not only consumption, out
other fearful maladies, which we have heretofore
believed to be incurable. Our contempt for the
discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected
results : and, as amends for our abuse of him, we
do frankly confess to the world, that we believe
lam a philanthropist, who does honor to the profes
sion and to our countiy, which gave him birth.
The recent adoption of this medicine into some
o our European hospitals, is a sufficient ?uara«t y
that it performs all promises. It needed not our
estimony, for wherever it is used . it is its own best

Radical Cure ol lleruiaor Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s Improved .‘Surgeons’ Trusses.
f I IHE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
1 store of Messrs. J. J. Robertgon &Co., forth*
treatment ol Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
uslly celebrated Instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, ami, did not delicacy forbid,
he could uarae several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
aifection, by the use of these Tiusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case ol Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually' ventured upon by those who wearother
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are inducec by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.’
The following is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published iu ur own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can- have the instruments
applied, upon application at the oii.ee, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus

this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous

incomparable and invaluable remedy so
■ long known, and used with such unparralleied
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeats, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and uisagreeable “ills the flesh is heir to,”
This prize btains its own name from the certain
success hich has attended it through all of its
trying c curastances, namely, “five days,”—the
same su .ess which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief VVabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians.—
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of bis receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
| free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
I with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe,to
M. CheveretjWhen he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is’consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.

a sound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree -

from the sudden cure of Gonorrlicea, have been
