secretly lurking in the system for years before ;

which may be as certainly, though not so quickly,
cured, as a common cold or a simple headache. An

We, the undersigned, practitioners of medicine |
in Germanv, are well aware that, by our course,
we may forfeit the friendship of some of the facul
ty, bat not of its benevolent members, who are un- j
influenced by selfish motives. Though we shall j
retrain lioni an expression ot our opinion, either
of the soundness or unsoundness of Dr. (lochck s .
new doctrine, we are happy to say that we deem
his Sanative too valuable not to be generally |
known—for what our eyes behold and our ears |
hear, we must believe.
We hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Often i
Goelick first came before the German public, as i
tiie pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a
new medicine, we held him in the highest con
tempt, believing and openly pionouucing bun to be
a base impostor ai d the prince of quacks. Liu, on ,
hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it
ml for it, we were induced, from motives of cun
sit merely, to make trial oi its reputed virtue 1 -
upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and
we now deem it our bounden dutj (even at the
expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge
its eificacy in curing not only consumption, but
other fearful maladies, which we have heretofore
believed to be incurable. Our contempt for the
discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected
results; and, as amends for our abuse of him, we
do frankly confess to the world, that we believe
nira a philanthropist, who does honor to the profes
sif n, and to our countiy,which gave him biith.
The recent adoption of this medicine into some
o our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty
t hat it performs ail promises, it needed not our
estimony, for wherever it is ured it is its own best
