A certificate from three members oj the Medicut ■
Profession in Germany, in Europe. j
We, the undersigned, practitioner- ot medieine
in Germany, arc well aware that, by our course, j
wc may forfeit the friendship of some of the iacui
tv, but not of its benevolent members, who are un
influenced by sottish motives. Though we shall!
refrain fiom an expression of our opinion, either
of the soundness or unsoundness of Dr. Goclick s
new doctrine, we are happy to say that we deem ;
his Sanative ton valuable not t>» oe generally j
known —for what our eyes behold and our cars
hear, we must believe. .
We Hereby sta e, that when Dr .muis (men
Goelick fir-4 came before the German public, a
the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a
new medicine, we held him in the highest con
tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be j
;i base impostor :r d tho prince ot quacks. Rut, on
hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it
nd for it we wore induced, from Motives ot cuu
,it- merely, to make trial of its reputed virtues
upon a number of our most hopele - patients; and ,
we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the
expense of self-interest) publicly .to acknowledge
ts efficacy in curing not only consumption, tint
other fearful maladies, which we have heretofore j
believed to be incurable. Our contempt lor the j
discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected j
results; and, as amends for our abuse ot him, wc
do frankly confess to the world, thac inc beliere
l,j m a philanthropist, who does honor to the proles
,u u, audio our countiy, which gate him birtn.
The recent adoption of this medicine into some
o our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty
that it performs all promises. It needed not om

Hadical Cure of liermaor Hnpture, by Dr.

FglllE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
1 store of Messrs. J. J. Robertson Co., for the
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustiy celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid, 1
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the useof these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. Tie following is the language of the com
mittee oi t ic Philadelphia Medical Society on the *
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wearothe:
trusses; tr als that would be imprudent with any ■
1 other apparatus known to the committee.
j “ The committee are induced by the foregoing
I conclusions, to recommend, in strong terms, the in- I
i struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me-'
; chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the ;
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fokr wing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published m our own city.
« All must admit of the radical cure of hernia, j
and that Di. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
; yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance caa have the instruments

This Medicine, I wamnt by this publication,un- \

j e’e of corrosive preparation. It is purely vc-gata
blo in its essences. Its fast and prominent v irtue
is to subdue every vestige of inflamation, and then
j acts mildly and copiously as a diuretic; therebj
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, lor
the subduclion of this loathsome malady—and ev
j ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
assertion, that copious diuresis and reduction of in
i (Ration, are the only two things necessary to effect
a sound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone lias boon used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree •
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gcnorrlupa, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humoi- j

most loathsome, perplexing, and disagreeable dis- j

acquired a just popularity, not only by reason oi
the strength and delicacy, but of the extraordina

many othcroxtracts and essences is almost as eva

they are derived, the Hermitage retains its fra
grance for an in clinite length of time, and is
scarce to bp removed from the garment on which it
is poured, by washing; hence it is probably the
cheapest and most delightful perfume of our labora
