The Greatest of i|mi an Benefactors
'
Citizens of North and S mth America,
To Louis Offon Gobi iche, M. D., of Germany,
[Europe,] belongs the imperishable honor of adding
,i new and precious docti me to the science of medi
cine —a doctrine which,! lough vehemently opposed
by many of the faculty, (of which he is a valuable
member,) he proves to ti is well founded in truth
as any doctrine of Holy Writ —a doctrine, upon the
verity of which are sus; ended the lives of millions
of our race, and which i e boldly challenges his op
posers to refute, viz: (A i sumption is a disease al
ways occasioned by a d sonlered state of Vis ViUe

secretly lurking in tin system for years before
here is the least cumph hit of the Lungs c UjD—and
which may be as certaii ly, tiiough not so quickly,

invaluably precious doc line this, as i* imparts an
i mportanl lesson to the pparently healthy of Loth
sexes, teaching them t ml this insidious foe may
be an unobserved inmai; of their “ clayey houses”
even while they imagi u* themselves secure from
its attacks, teaching the n th&tthe great secret in the

when in the blade, and lot wait till the full grown
ear.
This illustrious benel id tor of man is also entitled
to you i unfeigned grati tide, and the gratitude of a
world, for the inventioi of his matchless Sanative,
—whose healing tiat m y justly claim for it such a
title, since it has so si rally triumphed over our
great common enemy /fjf Consumption, both in
the first and last stagi s, —a medicine which has
thoroughly filled the va mini in the Materia Medica,
and thereby proved itse f the Conqueror of Phy

will have abundant cai to bless the benelicent

our globe, —a medicinl, wiiich is obtained equally
from*the vegatable, arlmal and mineral kingdoms,
and thus possesses a tfi ve-fold power,—a medicine,
which, thouga designed as a remedy for consump

A certificate from t iree members of the Medical
Profession in Germany, in Europe.
We, the undersign ?d, practitioners of medicine j
.n Germany, are wel aware that, by ourcoutse,
we may forfeit the ft ends hip of some of the facul
ty, but not of its hem voleut members, who axe un
influenced by selfish motives. 1 hough we shah
refrain from an expr ssion ol our opinion, eitlici
of the soundness or nsoundness of Dr. Goelick s
new doctrine, we ar happy- to say that we deem j
his Sanative too vs uable not to be generally j
known —for what oi r eyes behold and our ears ;
hear, we must believ . .
We hereby sta e '.hat when Dr. Louis OlTen j
Goelick first came I jforc the German public, as j
the pretended discov rer of a new doctxine and a j
new medicine, we 1 eld him in the highest con
tempt, believing and xpcnly pronouncing him to be
a base impostor at d lie prince ol quacks. But, on
hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it
nd for°it, we were i duced, irom motives ol cuu
sit- merely, to mak trial of its reputed virtues
upon a number of or most hopeless patients; and
we now deem it oui bounded duty (even at .he ,
expense of self-inte ist) publicly to acknowledge j
its efficacy in curia not only consumption, but
other fearful maladi s, which we have heretofore (
believed to be inev able. Oui contempt lot the
discoverer of this mi licine was at once swallowed
up in our utter as to ishment at these unexpected
results; and, as ame ds for oar abuse of him, we
do frankly confess • > the world, that w e believe
him a philanthropist who does honor to the profes
sion and to our com xy, which gave him birth.
The recent adopt >n of this medicine into some
o our European hos itals, is a sufficient guaranty
that it performs all promises. It needed not our
estimony, for when or xtxs used itxs Us own best

Radical Cure ollleruxa or Rupture, byl>r.
Chase’s improved btirgeous f Trusses.
» r gIHE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
B store of Messrs. J. Robertson Co., for the
t veatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
uslly celebrated instruments. He has now used
tliem for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons w-lio have been radi
cally cured, of this truly- distressing and dangerous
I ass ection, by tlie use of these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely're
lieved. The following is tlie language of tlie com
mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in evexy case of Hernia observed by- the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by tiiose who wearothcr
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee art induced .by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The following is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in our own city-.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
vet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the office, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate, from sorneresponsi*

The instruments are of ab sizes, and applicable

say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
I Tomato Pills (proper) lor the gieat benefits of
i which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg

know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hapatine, or active principle, and when used
{ as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
i system in much belter condition than the other
I kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to children, and
how they then wished for a substitute. It has

thartic principles, but not until of late was it

incomparable and invaluable remedy so

a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable “ills theflesh is heir to.”
'This prize obtains its own name from the certain I
success Inch has attended it through all of its
trying c cumstances, namely, “five days,”— the
same su jess which followed it in a Northern lati

not only by- actual sale of the article itself to in

at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the j
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com- :
j position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although i
! Lee to use it in their respective tribes, which 1
places it m the hands of every Indian who rely |

der a penalty of $5,000, not to contain one parti
cle of corrosive preparation. It is purely vegata
ble in its essences. Its first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every vestige of inllamation, and then
acts mildly and copiously as a diuretic ; thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the subduction of this loathsome malady-—and ev
ery- regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
assertion, that copious diuresis ami reduction of in
flation, are the only two things necessary to effect
a sound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree -
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, Imrnoi
alis, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
mos ; loathsome,-prrpTexlng, and disagreeable dis
eases, consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and
treatment of Gonorrhoea.
Those affected are requested to call and try- for
themselves. If the prescriptions are well follow
ed and fail to cure, the money will in every case be
returned.
