We hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis (men Goelick tirst came uefore the German public, as the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a uew medicine, we held him in the highest con tempt, believing and opecTl pronouncing him to be a base impostor « d the prince ol quacks. But, on hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it nd for it, we were indue* d, from motives ol curi sit merely, to make niai of its reputed virtues upon a number of our most; hopeless patients; and we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge its efficacy in curing nut ‘only consumption, but other fearful maladies, whjcli we have heretofore believed to be incurable. I Our contempt foi the discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected results; and, as amends for cur abuse 01 bun, Me do frankly confess to Hie world, that we beliet e him a philanthropist, who d’oes honor to the proies sicn, and to our countiy, which gave him birth.
