Q Q 'p T 9 [Translated from the Geiman.] LOUIS OFFON GOELICKE, of Germany, The Greatest of Human Benefactors Citizens of North and South America, To Louts Offon Goeucke, M. D., of Germany, [Europe,] belongs the imperishable honor of adding a new and precious doctrine to the science of medi- ! cine —a doctrine which, though vehemently opposed 1 Dy many of the faculty, (of which he is a valuable j member,) he proves to be< s well founded in truth j as any doctrine of Holy \\;rit —a doctrine, upon the | verity of which arc suspended the lives of millions I of our race, and which he boldly challenges his op posers to refute, viz: Consumption is a diseaseal- i ways occasioned by a disordered state of Vis Vitae (or Life Principle) of thd human body: QQ* often | secretly lurking in the system for years before here is the least complaint of the Lungs Jfj Q —and which may be as certainly, tnough not so quickly', cured, as a common cold or a simple headache. An invaluably precious doctrine this, as i’ imparts an ; important lesson to the apparently healthy' of both sexes, teaching them that this insidious foe may be an unobserved inmate of their“ clayey houses” even while they imagine themselves secure from its attacks, teaching them that the great secret in the ait of preserving health is to pluck out the disease when in the blade, and not wait till the full grown ear , This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled to you i unfeigned gratitude, and the gratitude of a world.for the invention of his matchless Sanative, —whose healing hat may justly claim for it such a title, since it has so signally triumphed over our j great common enemy, Consumption, both in j the first and last stages,—a medicine which has j thoroughly tilled the vacuum ia the Materia Medica, and thereby proved itself the (ijr* Conqueror of Phy- ! sir ia/is^TT) —a medicine, for which all mankind j will have abundant cause to bless the beneficent hand of a kind Providence], —a medicine whose ! wondrous virtues have beeiuso glowingly pourtray ed even by s nne of our cie’.rgy, in their pastoral visits to tee sick chamber j [by which means they often become the happy instruments ol changing de sponding into hope, sickne t :s into health, and sad of friends into joy fulness Qs Q V GOELICKE’S MATCHLESS SANATIVE, A medicine of more values to man than the vast mines of Austria, or even *the united treasures of our globe, —a medicine, wmch is obtained equally from the vegatable, auirna -and mineral kingdoms, and thus possesses a three-} old power, a medicine, which, thougn designed a> ,i remedy lor consump tion solely, is possessed of u mysterious influence over many diseases of the hitman system, a meoi cine, which begins to be v&l jiedby physicians , who are daily witnessing its astonishing cures ol many whom they had tesigned to Jhe grasp of the Insa tiable Grave.- i DOSE of the Sanative, i>|r adults, one drop; for children, a half-drop; and *or infants, a quarter drop; the directions explaining the manner of ta king a half or a quartet drop. We, the undersigned, practitioners of medicine .n Germany, are well aware that, by our course, we may forfeit the friendship of some ol the facul ty, but not of its benevo.entipumbers, who are un influenced by se lish motive']. Though we shall refrain fiom an expression c[f our opinion, either of the soundness or unsound;iess ol Ur. tioelick s new doctrine we are happy to say that we deem his Sanative too valuable not to be gcncialiy known —for what our eyes behold and oui ears hear, we must believe. . We nereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis (men Goelick first came before the German public, as the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a new medicine, we held him in the highest con tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him lo be a base impostor .t d the prince of quacks. But, on hearing so much said acout the Sanative, against it nd for*it, we were induced, from motives ol cuu sic merely, to make trial of its reputed virtues upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and we now deem it our bounden duty' (even al the expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge its efficacy in curing not only consumption, but other fearful maladies, which we have heretofore believed to be incurable. Our contempt for the discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected results ; and, as amends for oar abuse ot him, we do frankly confess to the world, that we believe him a philanthropist, who docs honor to the prolcs skn and to our country, which gave him birth. The recent adoption of this medicine into some o our European hospitals, is a suliicrent guaranty that it performs all promises. The following is the language of the com mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the Radical Cure of Hernia. • “ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected the permanent and accurate retention of the in testines in every case of Hernia observed by the 1 committee, without material inconvenience to the patient, and often under trials more severe than are usually ventured upon by those who wearother trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any other apparatus known to the committee.” “ The committee are induced by the foregoing conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in struments of Dr. Chase to the conlidence of the profession, as the best known means ol me chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the highest chances of radical cure.” The fob owing is from the Southern Medical and Southern Journal, published in our own city. “ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia, and that Dr. Chase’s 'Trusses are decidedly the best yet invented to effect the object.” Persons from a distance can have the instruments applied, upon application at the o.uce, and all ne cessary information given to enable them to adjus it themselves.
