f |IHE subset ibev has opened an office, at the Drug

treatment ol Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, didnot delicacy forbid,
ae could name several persons who have been radi

‘ilicction, by the used these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical society on the
! Radical Cure ol Henna.
“ The instruments of Dr. ("base have effected
tiie permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials mure severe than
are usually venturer upon by those who wear other
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, m strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
c.tanicaJ retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
Tlte 10l owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in ur own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cured hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to ellecl the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the o.t.ce, and ail ne

a charm, for the reflet and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable ‘-ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize btains its own name from the certain
success hich has attended it through all of its
trying c cumstances, namely, “five days,”—the
same su jess which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was ootained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wabekothe, or Great Moon, whilst !
he, with others was pursumgthe lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians.— *
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable !
; success throughout his two tribes, its known and j
j valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale ol the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great spirit, never to divulge the “ait of its com-*
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
j Iree to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, 1 may- say, religious contidence on its cura

Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can j
be anglisized of the deed by- Wabenoshe, to I
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed iu preparing the article for im
mediate use.

HERMITAGE EXTRACT.—This lately in
vented combination of delightful odors, has
acquired a just popularity, not only by reason ol
the strength and delicacy, but of the extraordina- j
ry duration of its perfume. Whilst the strength of j
many other extracts and essences is almost as eva- i
ncscent as the bloom of the flowers from which
they are derived, the Hermitage retains its fra
grance for an in eiini e length of time, and is
scarce to be removed from the garment on which it
Is poured, by washing; hence it is probably the
cheapest and most delightful perfume of our labora
tories.
