To Louis Uffon Goelilxe, M. D., of Germany,
[Europe,] belongs the honor of adding
anew and precious doctrife to the science of medi

member,) he proves to be* s well founded in truth
as any doctrine of Holy \ *ri t—a doctrine, upon the
rerity of wnich are suspended the lives of millions
of our race, and which challenges his op
posers to refute, viz : Consumption is a disease al

which may be as certainhl though not so quickly,

invaluably preoiou.. doctrifte this, as imparts an
important lesson to the apparently healthy of both

This illustrious of man is also entitled

hearing so much said a..ou*v,he Sanative, aganut it

upon a number of our mos (ft nope less patients; and
we now deem it our bounien duty (even at the
expense of self-interest , to acknowledge
its efficacy in curing not f nly consumption, but
other fearful maladies, vvh| h we have heretofore
believed to be incurable, i Our contempt for the
discoverer of this mediciuevvas at once swallowed
up in our utter astonishm "it at these unexpe. ted

do frankly confess to the *orld, that we believe
him a philanthropist, who cjpefthonor to the profes

he could name several persons who have been raJi

others who are in a fairway of being entirely re

Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have etfected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in

committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wearolher
trusses; trials that wou.d be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, m strong terms the in

the profession, as the best known means ol me

highest chances of radical cure.”
The fol owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in ur own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure ol hernia,

is lo subdue every vestige of in tip mat ion, and then

The rno-t peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used lo
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree

from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humoi

HERMITAGE EXTRACT.—This lately in
vented combination of delightful odors, has
aiquueda just popularity, not only by reason ol
the strength and delicacy, but of the extrao.dma
ry duration of us pe.iume. U liilst the strength of
many other extracts and essences is almost as eva
nescent as the bloom of the flowers from which
they are derived, tne Hermitage retains its fra
grance for an in ehm e length of time, and is
scarce to be removed from the garment on which it
is poured, by washing; hence it is probably the
cheapest and most deJightlul perfume ot our labora
